I haven't seen a NASCAR race in many years, but I was a rabid fanboy in the past for a long time, so this was a kind of homecoming for me. Holy smokes, what a finish! By the way, he's from the little place I live in. Its an old farm area, invaded by idiot yuppies, so those of us who have history here tend to think of him as one of our own. He went to high school just down the road from me. He raced at Southside Speedway, so close I can sometimes hear the engines on a summer night, and by all reports a good boy to be proud of.

Being a Furniture Row/Truex Jr. fan, I'm pleased with second...... but oh so close.. about four inches or .001 second they said. I was really worried NASCAR would find a paper cup somewhere on the track and throw a caution with about three to go.

I hope a few more of the races are as good.

And you realize that 1/100th (.01) of a second is somewhere between .001 and .009? WOOF!!

I was disappointed Junior went out. I think he had the car to win it.

It seemed like the inside row ruled the day, as attempts to move forward on the outside for most of the race did not seem very successful, until the last few seconds, that is.

I was disappointed the other Junior missed winning by such a small margin.

I was one of the better 500's I have seen in years and I never miss one. Glad to see the racing as tight as it was and we still managed to get the race in without a big wreck. Some of the wrecks had big time hits and everyone was ok. Poor Chase had the front of his car ripped off by the grass. What a shame. I wish they would get the front of the cars off the track of get the grass areas out of the tracks. You can paint all the crap on pavement too. All in all a great race.

I think they finally found a good combination of rules and car configuration. For the most part, like the first 160 laps, the racing was boring but the ending was well worth watching. I like that Denny Hamlin wasn't afraid to take on one of his team mates.

Too bad Chase Elliot's car got destroyed by a simple spin. The kid didn't even get a chance to show what he had. The splitters on the restrictor plate track cars are larger than on the standard aero package, and we all saw the result of sliding over the grass at speed. NASCAR might as well pave over that grass area, too. All the precious advertising and logos can still be painted on, and sliding over paint would not grab the car like the grass did.
As usual, I was pulling for a FORD victory (ideally the Wood's #21 car), but I enjoyed watching Hamlin's move to take the win. The #11 wins after 11 years of trying, I thought he said in victory lane. Not the worst restrictor plate race to have watched, for sure.
Hope everyone who invested their Sunday afternoon enjoyed it, too. Now, on to Atlanta for some real racing!-- Ernie :>)
