A wish for our Alberta friends

I know we have members from Alberta here on HRW, and also know you are in the midst of hell on earth with raging fires forcing the evacuation of the whole city of Fort McMurray population 80,000+
Be you in direct harm or have family and friends that are, just know that we are all pulling for everyone to get past this safely and together.
If there is a need , let us know, since we are better all as one than than as individuals.

The news coverage shows how horrific the damage is and it's not over yet... They showed footage of one area of town where 80% of the structures were burned, though in that footage I saw nothing standing... First this Province gets hit hard by the world oil game, and now this devastating fire in the heart of oil country... So many peoples lives will be forever changed...

Mother nature is a most powerful thing...

Wishing all, safe passage from the area, and let's all hope for rain...!!!

Thats Right Rob, Ft McMurray is also known as the gateway to the oilsands.
Right now the oil company have residences there for the workers. The oil crunch has hit this area also very hard with many layoffs, so now the empty residences are being used to house evacuees that went north.
Where do, you send 80 thousand people most with only an hour or less notice to evacuate.
Subdivisions have been burned to the ground , hotels on fire , gas stations exploding .
I suppose you could equate it to a city being struck by a major tornado.
Mother Nature is not to be underestimated. 10thousand hectares so far burning.
It is almost beyond belief.

Pretty scary stuff. A lot of people ran out of gas on their way to evacuation centers in Edmonton. They had to send a tanker out to fuel up stranded motorist. My wife is always telling me to keep the car full of gas. I can't argue with her now. That is the trouble with emergencies, they don't wait for you to be ready. One minute life is grand the next minute it is a living hell.

Pray for some rain, this thing is out of control. 1600 structures have been lost and it is still out of control.
