bz 2e on ebay.jpgstruts and motor carier - Copy.jpgI found a BZ Chaparral 2E back in the 90's on Ebay. It was apart and I could see how the wing mounted and that it was actually all factory made parts, no home made stuff. For years experts said the car was advertised, but never sold. Now that has changed and I sold that car to Scott Bader and Electric Dreams made anice post on slotblog about this car. Since then there have been 5-6 more cars found and Scott actually got 2 with partial retail boxes. All those cars are now in the LA Slot Car Museum. Recently I found another car on Ebay and looking at the pix close, I could see it was another factory car. One strut was gone and one was bent up and partially hidden in the junk pile. I won that auction (thankfully nobody else recognized the car). A machinist friend is making a new set of struts and then I will re-assemble the car. This design was pretty stupid and did not lend itself to disassembly of the body. The pictures show how I found the car and how the struts mounted into the frame. They went thru the body and the lower half of the vac-formed wing slipped over the struts and they were bent 90 degress to hold the wing bottom in place. Next the top half of the wing was glued onto the bottom half, so the car could not be taken apart without tearing something up!!
