This is probably going to be a long one so just stay with me here lol. I don't think I have fully introduced my self on this forum so everyone just knows me as Maddog17jr. My name is Cameron Vargo im 16 years old and live in Upstate NY. I was born into a racing family my uncle on my dad's side, my uncle on my mom's side and my dad all raced Sportsman dirt modifieds. When I turned five my dad gave up racing so I could have a chance. For my fifth birthday I was taken into our shop and shown a used yellow kid kart. Still the best birthday I have ever had. I ran the WKA road coarse and oval national tour all around the country. When I was nine I had a near fatal crash at a event in Camden, Ohio. I caught tires with the driver starting outside of me and the kart was launched into the air. The estimate that everyone says that i was about five foot in the air and going about 50 miles an hour when I struck a floodlight pole. During the impact i was launched forward into the steering wheel instantly lacerating my liver which caused internal bleeding. I was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance because they estimated by the time mercy flight would get to the track it would be too late. But the good lord chose to keep me around for some reason and by the time they had brought me into the emergency surgery room the bleeding had stopped. After a couple months of not being able to race I was allowed to race in Bever run, PA. But in practice I went to lap another driver jumped his bumper and flipped the kart onto my self. Needless to say we were done with karts at that point. So my dad put me in a ministock in which I won a track championship in the 16u division at age 11.
After a few years in the ministock we decided that it was time to move up again. At the age of 14 I made my first career start in a SK Asphalt modified(an all adult division). After seven races I had claimed victory becoming the youngest driver to win at Wyoming County International speedway in its 50+ year history. That year I ended up with one win, third in points and rookie of the year. In 2015 our year was not as good. We had finally got the setup good in our main car but we ended up totaling it in a crash. We had to go to our backup car for the rest of the year. But we still ended up with third in points (consistent eh?) and most improved driver. Due to an almost non existent winter up here my dad's business was left empty handed which in turn has led to no racing. Our backup car has been sold and our trailer has been sold. So I need your help. I want to know if any of you would be willing to donate to a gofund me page or spread the word to try to get me back on the track. It wouldn't have to be big donations just however much you are willing to give. My plan is to try to get enough money for one race. But not one weekly 35 lap race. Not a endurance 100 lap race. Im talking the American 100 $10,000 to win 100 laps full size modified race. This last year big names were there such as Jimmy Zacharias, Patrick Emmerling, Andy Jankowiak. for this to happen all I need to do is get a four barrel carb and wider tires and we can run in the race. So what do you guys think? Would you be willing to pitch in a few bucks to help a kid try to continue his dream? If we can make this happen with us here on the forum and by spreading the word Home Racing World Slot Car Garage will be on the side of our modified come race day. So thank you all for listening to me ramble on.
