Just flew in from Florida, and boy are my arms tired!

I just got back from another whirlwind trip to Florida. With apologies to my friends that I usually try to visit (I was really bummed about not racing at ModelerBob's!!!), we simply didn't have enough time with family stuff and some much needed work around my mother-in-law's house.

The fetching Mrs. Reinecke flew in a few days before I and #1 daughter, leaving us time to do this to celebrate Summer in Colorado:

Of course, with us hitting close to 100 here lately, tomorrow's commute may be a little toasty! Luckily, I got my tan going on already.

We flew in and within about three minutes I already had a list of stuff to fix around her place. Without getting too personal, many bad financial decisions have left her on an incredibly fixed income and while the list of items were long, luckily only a few required some financial assistance from us.

We left the Gulf Coast and headed over to the LT's residence on the Atlantic side and I got to see my very first "Big" rocket launch from a fantastic beach bar in Port Canaveral. The rocket was our current largest Delta IV carrying an NRO satellite. VERY fast and loud. We then went to the center and hit Universal Studios for the first time and the Harry Potter stuff was out of this world if you are into that. We also spent 2 days at WDW and had a great time before going back to the Gulf and finishing up the to-do list at the MIL's home. Working outside on days where the heat index was 100-104 was pure joy...

Anyway, it was a great but exhausting trip. Thankfully the MIL has a pool at her complex and we did find a little time to hit the beach.

I really missed my slot cars and HRW as I was not online a whole bunch. I did come home to a package from my friend, Bruce Kinder, who you may recall is a fabulous resin caster that did some Mini-trucks for us a while ago. Unbeknownst to me, he sent me a crazy load of stuff:

First - the new PDR Safety Vehicle. This little Mini is a doll and rides on a Carrera Go chassis that runs exceptionally well. It is just too cool and I've drilled a hole for the pin so it now has a place of honor.

Second - he sent me one of his incredible pickup trailer kits that he painted and weathered for my junkyard area. It still needs a flat tire and more junk, but it is fabulous.

Lastly, he send me kits of the trailer and all three of his Mini's!!! Bruce rivals the best of the best in modeling and casting and these kits are PERFECT.

WOW, just over the top and I can't thank him enough for all of this!!!

I've got a break coming up in late September and plan on working on these, my Shotgun jalopies and my Strangebrew kits! It is going to be a crazy-busy fall!!!

Wow Dave...sounds like you have been busy and having a lot of fun along with it!!! I'm sure the MIL and the Mrs. appreciated everything you did for her!! And spending time with the daughter is priceless!! Fabulous gifts awaited you when you got home and it doesn't get any better than that!! Now back to resins :D !!

I bought 4 of Bruce's Mini trucks (Ute's), a while back, and had a ball with them. I did 4 different chassis and 4 different liveries (themes). I had so much fun I stretched it out to take as long as I could. I even made a model of myself at age 8 or 9, and decals to represent vegetables in bushel baskets, as well as a rhinoceros capture Mini.. What fun! Still one of my favorite projects over the years. If I had more ideas, I'd make some more.

Very cool Minis....where who?

I also read the thread title aloud to a mirthful response.

Have to agree about the Bruce Kinder mini's - awesome bit of resin kit and Bruce is such a nice guy.

:angry-tappingfoot: There you were, just a short 14 hour ( maybe more depending on Atlanta traffic) drive from us and couldn't even be bothered to stop by.....sheesh!

Seriously, looks like you (generally) had a good time. We all have had the "remote honey do list" when visiting in laws, it goes with the territory.

Glad you survived the "rocks and shoals" of modern air travel and are safe and snug at home...
Now get back to work! I like the new "Saturday Night Specials" but I'm waiting on the T/A Dart!

Love your new Safety Car  (Nice work, Bruce).

Allan, just PM David and he can set you up with Bruce. Have fun. Those little guys are a lot of fun to build and to run.
