New slot storage for the work area

Postby ListerStormGT » Sun Sep 08, 2013 9:04 pm

I have been looking for some new storage for the work area in the garage now that I have downsized the track. I wanted something I could possibly tie in with my workbench and move around when needed to use as extra workspace but also something that had a lot of drawers or storage space for my slot stuff. I came across this 46in mobile work cabinet with 9 drawers at Home Depot and it was exactly what I was looking for. It has a solid butcher block top on it, its on casters and has plenty of storage. Yes its a little overkill for just slot car stuff but I was able to fit all of my stuff in this thing and I still have 3 drawers that are empty. I still have to organize things some but its perfect for what I needed.

Overkill for slotcars? Never heard of it.

Looks great Lee. Your shop looks like a hospital compared to the old skunkworks.

That is really a nice unit! I think I looked at that one a few months back. Nice storage and workspace!

That's what I was thinking. My place is in chaos while the track work is going on. Today, I was painting parts on paper towels on the corner of my worktable- no other clear spot.

Well, Lee, your assignment is clear- build enough stuff to fill those drawers!

That makes me ashamed of my work table. I really need to clean mine up. It looks like someone came in to rob the place and tossed it. Darned neatniks. I would gladly have my area look like yours Lee or Harry.

Amen! I can't tell you how much organization helps someone like me when I'm in the middle of a serious build or whipping out a ton of molds. Lee's new cabinet is actually a great way to get a reasonable place to work!
