Had a Bad "Tractor Day" Continued

Had a bad "tractor day" ..... the Kubota G1800 garden tractor is venting trans fluid and I have to track that down; then I finally got my old Ford 2N running (ran a hot wire direct from the battery, through a switch, to the coil) so after I got it running I was getting ready to hook up the Bush Hog when the hydraulic line going to the front end loader let go and showered me and the tractor with transmission fluid.....problem is that the line that ruptured was grafted into the transmission almost 70 years ago. I'm too old and stiff to do repairs like that! I may have the guy across the road take a look at it for me. And, of course, anything that says "Kubota" = $$$$

Oh Sarge, that's a nightmare. I have a Kubota B7500 and 1950 Farmall Super A, made in Louisville the year I was born. Guess which one is the most dependable... Me neither. But I understand the Farmall, and that's says a lot. Are you using a farmer's Kubota dealer? Makes a huge difference in my experience. The farm serving guys are a different breed from the yuppie idiot serving twits with fancy showrooms. Too bad your expertise is serious jets, not the hydraulics of landing gear!

I find that car shops in the areas that are pre-gentrification on the edge of town where it used to be agricultural, will do cheap and competent renovation on hydraulic lines.

Our Kubota dealer is 20 miles away but reasonable with "verbal help".....it's the parts that are pricey ($30+ for an anti scalp roller). As far as the hydraulic line the guy across the road is a "jack of all trades" mechanic (he has a 1940 Allis bulldozer he keeps running) and his father (who lives right down the road) is a retired engineer. I'll talk to him tomorrow and give Kubota a call......keeping my fingers crossed.

Thirty dollars for a chunk of round plastic? Good grief. I'll be a lot more careful! Recently, my dashboard stuff went dead, and I can't figure out how to get the damned dash off to get under it.

Well, the neighbor is going to give me hand with the Ford 2N on Friday and according to Kubota the trans fluid will vent if the filter is slightly clogged. Kubota UDT fluid $5 a quart x 2 and a filter $15 (no, there is no interchange on either the fluid or the filter.....Hey Fram!).
Then to top it off, our 1 year old TV just died, no power, no lights, took the back off to check the fuse.....solder in with no easy way to put a meter on it. So off to Wally World to get a new TV, got a nice one that does everything but sit up and beg.....and it's slightly too big for the entertainment center :doh:
