I recently started racing 1/24 scale cars again at the Race Place in Holly Hill, Fl. They are concentrating on racing the classes that are being run statewide in the Florida My Series. Last night I ran two classes, the JK Flexi Indy cars and the JK Flexi NASCARs There were 7 racers in both events. In the Indy cars my almost brand new car was only able to power to a 4th place finish. But my NASCAR with a new motor on a five year old chassis was able to propel itself to a first place finish. I had to come from two laps down in the final heat and I won by half a lap. This is my first win in 1/24th scale in five years and it sure felt good.

Were you running the Daytona Tri oval or road course ?

For weekly races where we rarely have enough racers to turn marshall the infield just the tri oval is used. I got lucky with the motor that was pulled off the wall and sold to me. It will hold up for three or four more races and then probably die in a puff of smoke.

After I passed the leader there were still about 30 seconds remaining so after I built up a comfortable margin I slowed a bit. Something the race director noticed and announced. The last thing I wanted to do was get deslotted passing someone else.

Good job whippin' up on the the locals, Bob! Nice work on the "TK" paint scheme, who manufactures the DW12 IndyCar lexan body? That looks pretty cool.
My Flexi Indy has a generic Indy/F1 body painted orange w/ white #14 decals to look like one of A.J. Foyt's old cars. We used to run them pretty much straight up, with a small TSRF or JK motor and 1/8" rear axle/plastic gear setup. For me personally, racing that class of cars at a commercial raceway can be loads of fun, so long as the equipment is kept fairly basic without allowing all the expensive parts upgrades into the mix. I've seen some raceways turn simple Flexi- Kar racing into a money pit, with outrageous chassis setups, 3/32" axles, ball bearings, wing bodies and the like. Of course, some racers like using the more $$$ formula for ever increasing speed, right? Being a former raceway owner, I understand that the raceways are of course just trying to sell merchandise... after all, ya gotta pay the rent! Have fun winning some more races, and... Enjoy!!
