Chili tonight - two batches!

Postby ddyke » Tue Mar 19, 2013 3:29 pm

My wife is making her wonderful chili. It is divided into two types - chili for normal human beings and chili for the rest of us. The first is great and the latter is buttocks burning hell but tastes even better than the first. The next morning it leaves a friendly reminder of what was served the night before. I love this woman!

We were serving up good chili at the Bolton Raceway Park chili dog challenge.

My wife's secret to chili is make it the day before you eat it to let it season in the pot for a day overnight to let all those good seasonings come together nicely.....

I bet you guys could almost taste it now!

Who needs a big bowl full?

Come on over! Plenty of good chili and lap turning to always be had!!!!!

Chili and Spaghetti 101: ALWAYS make the day before and let it slow simmer the next day.

Hey David!

You got it brother!

Ain't nothing like a pot full of well seasoned chili or spaghetti!!!

Yum! Yum!!!

There is enough gas generated there to power a whole field of race cars around the track!

You talk about high octane afterwards......

Throw in a few cold ones and you got the makings of a new kind of Nitro Methane.....

My worthless single friends were always invading our house when we were newlyweds because we married a full three years before anyone else, and eleven years before the last of them. Barbara used to be very patient, holding court in the living room while five of us maniacs labored in the kitchen (making a huge mess), making four-alarm chili in the winter, and whole BBQ pork shoulder in the summer outdoors. We used to joke that Barbara might as well have married all of us, for being so kind and patient with our weekend silliness. We always made her a bowl of false-alarm chili. The guys were always very proud to announce that a special serving was made just for her. We still talk about it when I make chili, and make her serving separately, lacking heat.

The General makes a great chili.

It starts with beans and cornbread :) Then, she puts the leftover beans in he fridge and a couple days later she starts her chili using them.

Just enough heat nowadays. And a few peppers on the side for me just in case.

1/2 a bowl was left of the mild and none of the wild.

I take great pride in my chili and once at a race event someone decided to throw me a challenge to make a chili
with a little heat. Needless to say the next time I met up with this person he had his own crockpot of chili and I made sure that
he ate it. By the second bite the tears were flowing! Man I love a good challenge. As a matter of fact our own Dave Kennedy
left me a little note in sharpie on my picnic table saying he enjoyed the salsa but next time bring the heat. And bring it on I did! :banana-rock:

Ok... Some of you folks are going to have to cough up some recipes somewhere along the line.

Been hanging here too long maybe, but poking around in almost empty fridge yesterday morn looking for something for post "beer 'n' laps" Friday fare chilli or spag bol seemed the best options and chilli won.
