Cool old pictures

I think it is safe to assume that the GT-40 is not the $1897 special. But I passed up a 289 Cobra
at $3000 in 1969 to buy my 1968 Plymouth Road Runner at $1800. A few years ago a Road Runner
identical to mine sold for $175,000 at Barrett-Jackson. The Cobra would probably be about half
a mil today.

Yup. I actually passed on several Cobras in my lifetime. Both big and smallblock. I also passed on a
Ferrari 250 GTO/64 and a 206SP ( I already had a 206GT ). Not that I did not have the money. I
just wasn't "motivated".

Nice shot of Freddy Lorenzen and Richard Petty dukeing it out. There is currently a very nice exhibit
on Fearless Freddy at the local history museum. His family Shell station was near my home, and as a kid
me and my friends would bum gas from them for our go=karts and mini-bikes.

The wheel standers are great...makes you wonder what it took to get that picture.
But a TC up on 2 wheels!!! Racing on the streets (note curbs and storm drains) THAT was what amatuer racing was all about. :banana-rock:

The description for that picture I have M_Delaneyfan is as follows, "Chrysler of France Simca Racing team doing a parade lap in celebration of their numerous race victories in various 1972 race series".
