Here are a couple of pictures of the new Ford GT that I took at the New York Auto Show yesterday.

I suspect its just me, but all these unnecessary sharp edged styles seem more and more like no style at all. It isn't aerodynamics- a jellybean can be made aerodynamic.

Actually it is very aerodynamic, very similar to the new Nissan LMP aero package....
....prepare to be shock by the performance from a small V6.

Sorry, I'm with Jeremy Clarkson...his comment was referring to the Caddy CTS but it looks like the designer only had a ruler  I like the last mutation better, even if it was a warranty nightmare. By the same token I also liked the 02-05 T-Birds, Chevy SSR and the new FJ Toyota Landcrusher. I also hope Lincoln will make that Continental retro car that's been making the rounds. That all comes from being an Aged Methane Gas Dispenser :character-oldtimer:

As far as the power, Jesla, I'm continually impressed with the big numbers Ford is getting out of their newest 4 & 6 cylinders.

That is one sweet looking GT that doesn't embarrass the original like some retro's do. But as usual that the price puts it out of my range. I read this morning that it was going to be around $400,000.

Yep. Like I say, the reason for it isn't aerodynamic. They wanted it to look that way, and they made it aerodynamic after they made the stylistic decision. Its the same thinking as the silly looking arrowhead shaped blue headlights that cost $225 each to replace and blind other drivers at night that so many GM products have these days. Style over substance, it's not new. I don't hate it, I just hope it doesn't inspire others with this style. I will admit that I hate those damned blue headlights that are everywhere all of a sudden the last few years.

I figured out where the source of the new styles came from, I think. Popular car styles have frequently followed aircraft styles, from the Rocket Oldmobiles and cars with lots of fins in the 50s to the Stealth aircraft styles with sharp edges and odd, awkward shapes of today. It would be interesting if they could deflect radar guns on the highway...?
