Who's watching the Le Mans 24 hour race?

Great race, so far!

A lot of position swapping at the front of LMP-1; Porsche and Audi, Toyota and Nissan not much of a factor at this point. The Oreca/Nissans look like they have the LMP-2 class cornered. The Corvette is leading the Astons and Porsches right now in LM-GTE Pro, but Aston has the top spot in LM-GTE Am; ahead of the herd of Ferraris.

Heading into the night time segment now, so a lot could change in the next 8 hours............

What's your take on who will end up on top for each of the classes?

I have been watching. Rooting for the Audi's and the lone factory Porsche 911 RSR left in GTE Pro. Whether the Audi's (hopefully) or the Porsche wins overall, it will be a good thing for VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) which owns both companies. Earlier in the night one of the Audi's set the fastest lap ever in race conditions; even faster that before the chicanes were added. 1000hp and lots of down force.

My son in law has been "riding" in the #64 Corvette most of the evening. the on board camera is live. Kind of fun watching all the action on his phone.

I'd been watching TV coverage sporadically all morning, then tuning in live timing and scoring on 24h-lemans.com. Incredible battles between Porsche and Audi in LMP1. Gotta admit that I'm pulling for Corvette #64 to do well after a stuck throttle took Magnussen for a ride in the Porsche curves yesterday, destroying #63.

Interesting sidebar for Patrick Dempsey fans: he's a really good amateur driver and a credit to the sport. Compared to his team mate Patrick Long on their first stints today: Dempsey was 7 seconds per lap slower. That's not a knock on Dempsey, just a difference between pro and amateur on this course.

I only wish. Cant get it up here, ever since we lost speed, and we dont get Fox Sports.
I've been sneaking a peek at the positions every once in a while on the web.
Its really sad when one of the most important races in the world dosent have World coverage.

Bob, I can get FOX Sports here in Québec but they're not showing the whole race. This morning, I was not happy with them because they decided to air some show about trucks and some race practice instead of showing the start of the greatest race in the world. It was on FOX Sports 2 or GO, which I can't get here in Québec.

The solution was to buy the race in the Le Mans app on my iPad/iPhone. Not cheap at $12 but at least, I can see the race and get all the other info on my portable screens. I was there in 2011 with a great group of friends and still get goosebumps when I see this race. We'll go back someday, that's for sure.

The Nissan Nismo was turning laps 20 seconds slower than the Audiis and Porsches.

Thanks Christian , I used to get it on RDC or SRDC or something in French from La belle Province but now my provider has eliminated those channels.
Well I will see it next year, as I am going over with my cousin from the UK.

I got the start and several hours after, and I had the DVR set to get the three segments broadcast later, so among other things I could watch Chicago beat "that team that comes from a place that doesn't have ice all year so they don't get to say they play hockey". Harumph. And sure enough, we beat them.

Meanwhile, the idiots at Fox broadcast soccer where they said they were going to have LeMans. Its going on right now. On the guide it says LeMans, on the screen they put soccer. Jerks. I hope they don't screw up tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'll look for a backup online. I don't trust Fox.

Wow, a seriously ugly night for the Audi Sports team..... Go into the night segment with a small lead over Porsche and come out down 2.5 minutes. Looks like it will be a Porsche win in LMP-1 now; unless Godzilla makes an appearance at Le Mans this year! :lol: Time Berhard at Porsche (#17) must have had the drive of his life; coming from 4th to 2nd place and getting past both Audis in the process. Good for him!

LPM-2 has been only a question of which Nissan-powered car will win; Oreca or Ligier. Good racing, though........

The LM GTE Pro and Am races have been fun to watch; Aston, Corvette, Porsche, Ferrari - take your pick. I agree with the others, would be great to see the lone Corvette take its class this year.

Oh well, being from the Boston area I'm used to the expression: "there's always next year", back when the Sox couldn't buy a win at Fenway................!

You know, down 2.5 minutes with less than 3 hours to go to the finish and I'm still routing for Audi................! :mrgreen:

Congrats to Porsche on their LMP-1 win at Le Mans! A well driven race for them. The 8 mega Joule motors proved to be too much on the long straights of Le Mans and the Porsche team did a great job managing their cars and drivers and their overall race strategy.

Great to see the lone Corvette take a first in GTE Pro!

Ferrari wins in GTE Am and the Oreca-Nissan takes first in LMP-2.

Patrick Demsey's Proton Porsche looked good and took a second in class; not bad!

Next year!!!!!
