Hoooo- baby!

Man, what a crush! We just had the shreds of that hurricane that hit Galveston and ran up the Ohio River Valley come and slap us right across the face! Wow! What a squall! I am looking at shredded leaves and limbs all over the place. Gets you right out of breath just watching the big bastard come thundering through. Man, I love country livin'! Well, until it knocks power out for ten days at a time, and flattened 30 trees at a time, that is. I have done that twice, so this was all a good show. I may yet have to break down and find a video camera. From a heat index of 108 to rain so hard that you couldn't see across the driveway well enough to identify which car was which- all in the space of 45 minutes, and outside right now, the air is still and there is no rain at all. Time for a cold beverage- I couldn't take the chance that I might be facing an emergency before!
UPDATE-- They say something even bigger is on its way here. I can hear it coming.

Well, stay safe. We had plenty of it. My next slot car is an Ark.

Time to batten down the hatches sir!
Glad to hear that the first event was "un-eventful" - hopefully the same holds true for round #2!

We had 10 minutes of light rain a little wind no thunder & lightening. They called for it here at noon and then 4:00 PM. I don't know how something that big got around us to your side. Maybe it's living in the valley? Stay safe

Rob, as you know I live about 18 miles from you and we were lucky. We had some thunder bumpers and a little lightning and enough rain to get the street wet but nothing else. I saw the storm warnings when I got back from the Barn Burners Race this evening and I got ready for, yet another, night with the TV on the fritz because of the on coming storm but it never happened. I got to watch the ARCA race and the F2 race as the Xfinity race was rained out. Got to go to bed so that I can get up at 7:30 AM tomorrow to watch the F1 race.

It looks like the second wave just grazed by us. Good thing. There were tornadoes in that one, as well as some significant hail. Not exactly dry out there now, but not bad at all. Next chance is at 3am, and if it wakes me up, it will have put in some effort!

The 3am storm never showed up, but the wind must have kicked up. More shredded leaves and small limbs all over. Everything looks good so far where I have looked.
I'm glad I took the little vegetable garden off the table and stashed the pots underneath. The tomatoes in particular would have been destroyed even though we never got the hail that was threatened. About ten miles from here a tornado touched down and tore up some farmers' fields, but didn't hit anything else that I have heard about.
