Well speaking of saying good bye to a friend, my old truck, 2005 Sport Track.
it hauled us all over Canada and the USA, with our camper behind, for 250,000 kms.
I called her Addie as it was the Adrenalin edition.
She got clobbered a couple of weeks back by another car on the front right corner.
I used it the following weekend to take the camper back north for a week, no trouble.
2 days ago the Insurance company wrote her off.
It wasn't so much the amount of damage , but the parts from Ford particularly the airbag sensors just weren't available anymore.
Now I have to look for another car, the rental goes back Thursday, talk about a hurry up situation.
I am going to miss her, She was old reliable, and we all know they dont come along that often.
Well maybe I'm due for a change anyway.
Ive been looking at used Beemers, the 5 series for room for my grandsons, but the 3 series if I could get child seats in there.
Any thoughts lads I'm lost in the car market today. :angry-tappingfoot:

I'm still dizzy that Americans have allowed things to get so bad that parts for a 10 year old American vehicle are even hard to find, much less not available. Did Yugo buy our auto manufacturers and I missed it?

If it was not your fault you should be able to get more time with the rental car. Just tell them you will take a reasonable time to find a suitable replacement. Explain that you can pay for the rental yourself and have your attorney collect on your behalf. Good luck. I will say that I had a swift and amicable settlement from Progressive, several years ago when one of their drivers hit my old BMW.

If I were in the market for a car, it would be a late model Mustang base burger. My wife has been driving her '96 for nearly 20 years and loves it. The new 3.7 V6 has been out for a few years now at over 300 hp 30+ mpg. Go drive one, they're awesome.

So as much as I would love the car of my dreams, I need to really get something that I can put my grandsons in, and I am leaning toward SUV especially with our climate up here.
With our dollar worth about 75 cents to yours some of the prices are nuts.
Of course my little PT Bruiser is in limp mode with an overheating issue. If I can get it running right then I can take my time and have a good look around.
A friend of mine walked into a Dodge dealer and dropped 25K cash on the table, he said this is what ive got and I like that truck 35k. He told the salesman he was going to spend it wherever he could get what he wanted so next stop was the Ford dealer. He got the Dodge go figure.
I guess that is hard bargaining as he got the employee discount added to his deal.
Maybe I should get him to go shopping for me lol.

When I was in BC our hosts had just bought a Dodge Ram. It had front and back seats but still a large deck/carry space. This one had the small motor(3.7?) I liked it a lot.

And Bob, I have a similar problem where I am sick of my old Jeep Cherokee especially after I reversed into a tree (don't ask) and smacked a hole in the tailgate. I have had it for ten years or more and it smells of dog but what else can I get for what money I have?

Do I need an SUV? maybe a station wagon would do.

No parts for a 2005 Ford. Is that a Canada only problem? I have an 04 Mustang, no trouble getting parts.

Not sure, but you cant get wiring harnesses or airbag wiring up here.
Now on a good note, I hit the Jackpot today.
About 9k$ US I manged to get an 08 BMW X3 SUV with 73K kms on it
one owner trade in on a new one.
Shes a gem still very tight and will pull 3750 lbs, AWD lots of safety features and space for my 2 grandsons car seats. Also got 3 yr full warranty on it.
I guess it helps to have friends who own dealerships lol.
Feeling Relief now.
Also thanks to all of you for ideas and suggestions. I was really perplexed.
