This was one of my favorite toys as a kid. It is a Texaco service station made by The Wolverine Co. A friend of my dads got me one when I was about 4. I loved the litho painted work on this.

I've seen mint ones go for $400 a few years ago, but I've kept looking for a bargain and finally got one that was mint.

This one off eBay is a 9 out of a 10. The box was destroyed but the parts were still in the sprue. It Is almost perfect.







I remember that the wheels broke easily, and sure enough, one was broken on the sprue but I fixed it.

It is a very cool piece of nostalgia to me.

I have been on ebay myself lately buying childhood things I had.

I have been acquiring lionel trains as of late and I put together a nice layout to run 3 trains at a time.

I also have been buying the smaller Tonka trucks and dozers for scenery on the layout along with the king size match box trucks from the 60s and 70s also.

Great times and bring back great memories!

Enjoy that service station! I hope it takes you back to the days when you were a kid again!

Nice, David. A few years earlier, those were made of steel and had sharp edges. My neighbor had one with a spiral parking garage ramp and a hand cranked elevator. We played with that thing for hours at a time. I remember looking forward to a rainy day so we could all gather at his house and play with it.

Wayne - I had almost every Plasticville structure at one time. Amazing stuff and I wish I still had it. I sold it and purchased my NextEngine 3D scanner at the time. Some of that is VERY pricey.

Rob - Marx, Sears, etc. all sold similar sets at various times. Some were super detailed. The Marx stuff is seriously cool. Their skyscraper set had the furniture that I used in my timing tower on the PDR. This set is a little bigger than 1:32 but is darn close.

As for purchasing stuff like this - I really want to replace my Matchbox BP gas station and road set...but those are not cheap either. This Texaco one was just something I always loved and thought it would be a cool man cave addition. The Fetching Mrs. Reinecke was actually pretty surprised how cool it was.

Bottom line: I'm a 5 year old in a man's body.

Great stuff David! Its great that some of these things didn't get tossed. Looks like you found about the best example one could find.
