Tried this vidalia onion sauce last weekend and it was a big hit.

On the chicken especially, but the folks who inhaled the short ribs liked it as well.

My stores carry different types as well. Not all the types, or all the time.
So I do what most do and grab as many as I can :)
UGH...not sure on the sal...sal...sala...thing. Maybe if you placed that stuff on top of the burger :)

The Vidalia Onions only grow in one town in Georgia. Vidalia. They are state regulated when they can pick them, and the supply is limited. Could be why the sauce isn't available all the time?
I know the best way to eat a Vidalia is on the grille. core it, one big pad of butter, one Beef Bouillon cube in the center. wrap it in Aluminum foil, and cook till soft. Best damn steak side on the planet!

BOB! I have done this multiple times and you are right, it's a great way to cook them.
Annual? Heck, every weekend ok?

Bob is right. It is actually illegal to claim a Vidalia onion if it isn't grown in that peculiar soil around Vidalia, Georgia or very near Vidalia in Toombs County. Its a major Southern Tradition. There are several Texas Sweet onions, but they don't come close to a real Vidalia. If you are lucky enough to live where real Vidalias are sold, look for a sack of medium onions labelled "Vidalia". The really large ones don't travel well. I have seen Vidalias over 5 inches in diameter good all the way through, but that was a short drive away from Toombs County. Try some Vidalia Onion Pie for some good eatin'.
About Sweet Baby Ray's... You really have to be careful about that stuff. It is much sweeter than the real deal, and you can't really water it down. Use it on strong flavored meats, and include lots of onions and peppers in your sauce based on it.

If you cut it with red wine vinegar, it makes a great marinade. Add green onions too.
If you parboil your bird, add a cup in the water. Very good.

Hell, I just pour it on grilled Nathan's hot dogs with sauerkraut and spicy mustard!
Buy it cheap in large bottles here on Long Island, at Wally World (Walmart).
I was watchin' the Yankees @ Texas Rangers a few days ago, and there was a big advert for it behind home plate!
