Holidays after you are retired.

After you are retired holidays take on less meaning unless you are waiting for some new goodies to come in the mail. Then they mean you have to wait another $%^&* day!

I feel, your pain Bob.
Being retired also means you have the ability to check your package tracking numbers a couple of times a day only to be frustrated by the fact it hasnt moved. :laughing-rolling:

Sorry if I don't share your pain Bob. The mortgage, wife and children dictate that I can not enjoy such a simple pleasure as retirement for a very long time.

Bob and Charlie, I am not yet retired and I already have the same experiences. Nothing as frustrating as to wait for a parcel in the mail with no movement on the tracking nr.....

Retired for almost 4 years now, but I still like the weekends; there's just more going on.

I've been retired from my Uncle Sam for 19 years and from working for 7 years. Sometimes it's hard to tell the weekend from the week. Everyday is Saturday!! Glad I'm where I'm at in my life. Lots of slot racing going on.

I have been retired for 2 1/2 years and so far it is enjoyable. Yes it is frustrating to see your tracking number not moving, but there is more to retirement then that. I can do what I want (slot car racing, etc.), go where I want (camping, travel, etc.), within my means, anytime I want to. The only day of the week I have to remember is Wed; trash day. Other than that our anniversary. The only one I don't want to come is my 65th birthday which is in a couple of months.

I'm what is referred to as "semi-retired"....I work 20 hours a week on the weekends. Can't work more than that or Social Security would want some back! Of course getting the place ready to sell and keeping it up in "salable condition" is a full-time job in itself. Yes it's a pain when the holidays interfere with the mail....waiting on 2 packages from forum members right now!
Oh...our trash day is Wednesday, too!

I wish we had recycling, but we live in the middle of nowhere. We are lucky we have trash pickup. We are approx. 50 miles se of Reno, NV. We learned quickly when we moved here that we could not take care of the entire lot (5 1/4 acres)because of lack of water, so we put a 6 ft. cedar fence around about 0.8 of an acre for the house and garden. The coyotes, quails, lizards, rabbits and snakes take care of the rest (early sagebrush landscaping).

Retired-holidays...great. Get together with friends, enjoy the day. Nobody worried or thinking about going to work tomorrow! I worked part time the last 7 years and the other "retired" guy I worked with always said the best thing about being retired was Sunday. You didn't have your Sunday ruined by thinking about going to work on Monday morning! He was right. We always scheduled our selves for Wed, Thur or Fri. We made out the schedule and the two of us covered those days between us anyway we wanted. Retired, if you have your health and a reasonable income is great1

Enjoy. I'll retire when I die. Seriously. That whole 55-62 thing just isn't going to happen.

Luckily, I have weekends off and have little cars to play with.
