Last night I made a stupid and costly mistake. I noticed the track power was not shutting off when I pressed the pause button. I discovered that one of the wires from the interface module to the power relay had broken loose. In my haste to fix the problem I failed to turn everything off and disconnect the power supply to the module before attempting the repair. Also there was little light to see what I was doing and somehow I shorted out the module and fried the circuit. So now, until the replacement module arrives from Trackmate in Canada my track is without a lap counter. I had a race scheduled this weekend so now I have to contact everyone who was coming and let them know about the problem. I hope they decide to come anyway and we can just have some informal manually counted racing. From now on I will definitely remember the basic rule of electrical repairs. TURN OFF all power to the device under repair.
