BBC News has a few videos of a few insanely irresponsible guys destroying fabulous supercars, but today there was a verdict in crown court, a goof videoed himself and his speedo doing 192mph on the M45! He was arrested for something unrelated, and they searched his place, finding a stack of videos of him (with his daughter), doing crazy speeds on the same highway over and over again. There is a photo of him with a Bentley, but the videos include an M5 and several other supercars. He got over two years in prison.

Right below that article is one about some idiot in Hungary who goosed a LaFerrari a block away from the dealer where he just bought it(!), veering off to the right into parked cars. Then there's the wealthy twerp in Dubai, who revved a Lamborghini Adventador while waiting in traffic, until the unburned raw fuel that blasted out of the exhaust lit the rear of the car on fire and burned the car to a crisp.

What a great evening to check the BBC News website!!! But I'm soooo ashamed!

Ah, proof once again that wealth is NOT a standard of ability. "Just because you can afford a thing doesn't mean you should buy it." I've been seeing this sort of stupidity go on since I was a kid. We had a neighbor two houses down the street who had more money than brains or ability buy a new '64 Corvette. It came back to the driveway a couple of times with various bumps and bruises. He managed to wrap it around tree just off the freeway one evening, killing himself.

These clowns are the "aftermarket parts department" for hot car owners who HAVE brains and ability. It's sad that the rest of us who appreciate such equipment can't afford the stuff they destroy so stupidly. But then life is not fair. However, these idiots DO provide "entertainment" form time to time.

Some of these actions end tragically. Nearly a year ago now, on a two lane country road one mile from my place, a guy in a Ferrari 458 came too quickly over a gentle rise with a slight right bend at the top of the rise. He must have over corrected the unweighted front suspension at the op of the rise in an effort to turn. When the front settled down the car jerked right, broke the rear loose and he slid broadside into a tree just off the road. The car burst into flames and neither driver nor passenger made it out. He lived just off that road and must have travelled it many times.

Just sad.

I went to high school with a young man....his father owned an AMC dealership and a Chrysler Plymouth dealership. If I remember correctly he totaled a Javelin or AMX (don't remember which) and a Road Runner (all brand new) before his dad got wise and gave him a Chrysler Newport to drive.

Though it happened about two years ago, let us not forget the sport who drove his Ferrari Enzo into a lagoon while driving at low speed in the Canadian Rally. No one hurt, but the driver said he was happy it happened, because it would give him an excuse to buy some aftermarket parts.

There was a guy in Houston who drove a Bugatti Veyron into a huge sewage settling pond at well over 100mph, right after they became available for sale.

I was in Scottsdale, AZ this past spring and visited Roger Penske's amazing car dealerships. You don't have to buy, you can rent a Lambo, Ferrari, and so on. Got into a discussion and it seems about a year ago a fellow was visiting Scottsdale and decided to rent one of Roger's supercars, a Lamborghini, I think. He called his insurance company and asked if he was covered for a rental car. Insurance agent said, "yes." Well the gentleman proceeded to destroy the car. Insurance company said it won't pay because they weren't told is was Lambo. Driver says, "You never asked what kind of car I was renting." Sometimes it must be a lot of fun to be a lawyer.
