I'm gettin' there....!!(pic freakin' heavy!!)

Hi guys...haven't been around for awhile but believe me I do check in here every day to read the great posts that have been posted and I just haven't commented on anything do to my ignorance!!! HRW is my get-a-way place when I need it and I always need it!!!! Anyway, its been a busy and hectic past couple months doin' a lot of house renovations and dealin' with my mom and her health!!! But now she is at rest and at peace...Mom passed on Dec. 8th and she told us she was tired and ready and went peacefully in her sleep...she will be missed!! Here is a pic with her of her one and only time in my slotcave...the smile on her face tells the story...great memories!!

So, startin' back in Aug. I had my basement waterproofed from the inside which meant I had to move all things up to the vacant family room and cover as much as I could which turned into a small disaster when I removed the cover off my routed wooden track...ARRRGH!! It was a track I did last fall/winter that I never posted pics of and I knew eventually I would be tearin' it down!! Anyway, once the waterproofing was completed (it turned out fantastic...double sump with batt. backup and underfloor drainage duct...sweeeet!) and the replacement concrete on the floors dried up around the walls(I waited about a month) I decided it was time to cover up those ugly walls ya see in the pics(wish I had done this years ago!!) So I proceeded to start hangin' the lumber and then the drywall and then painted it all and then put up the trim( I didn't tape and mud any drywall joints, just covered with trim) and then painted it all to match!! I think it turned out pretty good and I kept tellin' myself..."it's a slotcave and it is yours...do it however you want!!"
ALSO...about a month after the waterproofing was done I had all the windows replaced in my house and they turned out to look great and I am very pleased with the results!! Soooo...after all that was done and I was still finishin' stuff up in the basement it was time to paint the floor as it was mutilated from all the work that was done and once it was painted and dried and I was Happy...Happy...Happy...it was time to start putting things back into place and hangin' my display cases back up and new shelves to display my new toys I have been accummulatin' the past year and all my collection things hangin from the rafters!! Got all that done and then it was time to tear up the old wooden track(it was beyond repair!) and get it ready for my newest venture!! I did put down some plastic track and on Dec. 10th I had a controller in my hands for the first time since July...it was killin' me till then and it was chillin' when I pulled that trigger for the first time!!
Anyways, I have been runnin' cars around on the plastic track and finally came to the decision that I'm goin' to take it all up(SCX 1/43 and Artin 1/32) and go with all Carrera 1/32 track to accommodate all the scales of cars I have!! I bought a set last week to get started and then today I made a HUGE purchase of track from Carrera Slots(what a great one-stop-shopping place for Carrera stuff!!) So like I said, "I'm gettin' there" and gettin' my butt back into action!!! I already have a layout printed out and the pieces are ordered so once it gets here it will be go time!!
I'm gonna post ALOT of pics of the progression of things that went on and how it went from ugly to pretty cool lookin':

You can see the floor where they replaced the concrete!

Newly painted floor...alittle darker than what it was!

Copper tape came up from temperature changes and some got caught on the tarp that was coverin it!!

The routed track de-construction!!!!!!

Plastic track down to get some trigger time...finally!!!!!

Everything is finally hung back up with new wooden shelves linin' the side wall!!

AAAAND...this final pic is just to show in my vacant family room where my new, renamed(remember I got my 2nd divorce in May (: ) routed track will be built!! Nice big space and the carpet will be removed and new floorin' put down and then it will be time to build and route(this probably won't happen till late winter, early spring...all dependin'!!) So, this is where I'm at and where I'm headed to and I'm not gonna be a stranger around here anymore!! Thanks for lookin'!!
