Why would anyone pay $15,000 for a wife, most guys will give you their's for free. As Henny Youngman said: "Take my wife, please someone take my wife".
Might just be an advertising gimmick to make you believe it's a fire sale and you can get it real cheap.

I remember an incident back in the late 1960s, when a woman sold her powder blue '57 T-Bird for $1 and split the proceeds with her husband. I think it was Nevada. But I have seen that incident repeated in dozens of movies, books and TV shows.

In "First Wives Club" I believe it was a Ferrari.

Yeah, in that one it was fine art, cars (including a Lamborghini), and stupidly overpriced designer furniture. I think the first time I saw it in a movie was Oxford Blues (1984- and surprise, it was a '57 T-Bird), but TV was on it like white on rice in the late 60s. Rockford Files, Ironsides, Mannix, Honey West, Dragnet, etc. I always assume that it was because a lot of folks knew about the woman in Reno and the $1 sale.
