Hi Guys,

Just wondering what you guys are planning for the 21st December when the Mayan calendar stops???

My son Jake is watching Dr Phil at the moment, there is a bit of discussion on the show about what is happening/ could happen, going to happen etc.

I think the whole concept sucks personally. Here we are approaching Christmas and we are having to worry about getting a plan together.

It would be good if we knew what was coming.....

Like if it were nuclear, we would just watch the lightshow of a second or two I suppose as there is a high value military communications centre 20 miles down the road that someone is bound to smoke....

Tsunami, now thats not so bad for us :), we are up on the mountains, so we can watch it come in towards us...

Meteor, wow bit of chance there, anyone's game really.

Naturally we will take all the usual precautions, fresh water, stockpile Ramen, have appropriate finger food etc on hand for any "Zombies" that may be out and about (and some tuned slot cars that they may perhaps be willing to try).....

I'm just going to keep on tuning my slot cars in case it does happen, don't want to leave any mint ones for the scavengers to take.

Let us all plan to run slot cars that night.

...Yeah son Jake reckons he is ready for the Zombies....

....I caught him rummaging through the Christmas presents :)

True we have started throwing Tomahawks at our local field archery club....

....They have competitions for throwing them at tournaments. Basically everyone shoots the Saturday round of the competition, then they have a feed and get drunk, then the axes come out...

Personally as for this end of the world thing -
I'm following the teachings of a wise old Noongyah (Aboriginal) bloke I know.

The only Tomahawk we have is on the head of the punk next door and my Arrows is a model of the Verstappen F1. So, yeah, I'm ready!

Well if I was still young and head strong like I was back in 1971, I know what I would do.

Jeanne Dixon - one of those physics that made all those predicitions of the time had stated that the northern half of the island of Honshu - main island of Japan - would be struck by an earthquake, then a tsunami and the result would be that it would sink!

That predicition was rather personal to me as I was stationed on that island back that year. So being a typical 23 year old male, I decided to be enjoying life to the maximum at the appointed time.

Interestingly, at the specified hour, we got hit by an earthquake! You can imagine my horror as this started! I just held on for all I was worth, and never gave up.

Obviously, she was wrong. I don't think I'll ever believe any more of these 'the world is going to end' statements from anyone.

But slot car racing on the 21st is going to be what I will be doing on that date!

The timing of that earthquake was freaky!!!

I think I would've been down on my knees saying my final prayers I think...

.... Yeah the Y2K "bug" was the end of it for me as far as all this stuff is concerned, slot car racing sounds like the go for entertaiment on the 21st :)

On the timing of the earthquake, it was Spring and it was northern Japan! Earthquakes were quite common each year. To us it was kind of like the signal of Spring being there. Your windows would rattle you awake, then the rolling ground would rock you back to sleep. After being there for 3 plus years, I was quite accustomed to earthquakes.

Yep, the 21st is a great day to spend slot car racing. Matter of fact, that would be an excellent day to hold an 'enduro race somewhere.

The next couple of weeks will be quite busy, yet extremely exciting and hopefully satisfying. Our club has purchased a used wood track and we're moving it up to our club. We will then have both plastic and wood racing surfaces in the same facility. I'm looking forward to that with great anticipation.

Yawn. Working, eating, sleeping, and playing with little cars. I figure any race wiped out doesn't deserve to have predictions this many years later come true.

Wait a minute- the end of the world is on a Friday? You mean I don't get to enjoy a weekend first? Stinkin' Mayans...

While it would be tempting to max-out my credit cards and tell my boss to shove it, I know that I'll end up going to work that day, eat something tasty for dinner, watch Kitchen Nightmares and Fringe on TV, and then go to bed with no worries about impending doom. There are constant end of the world prophecies that come and go, and most folks make it through. (I say most because some of them get swept up in the madness and off themselves.) I'll probably spend Saturday the 22nd wrapping Christmas presents... or watching the riots on tv. :D

Mayan predictions do not worry me but Cincinnati drivers do! Idiots and morons!

I have the same plans left over from the 1999/2000 end of the world predictions.
