I know there is already a post on this but I couldn't find it in a search and it's been a while since I've seen it. I just finished this last night. Well the running boards still need to be touched up. Here's my 1966 Beetle.

Yellow paint would have cost an extra $1000, so I settled for silver.

Nice, now you need a silver one. Here's another one I've done. I still need to remove the side exhaust.

I was trying to keep the price under 60K, in Connecticut there is a higher sales tax for cars over 60K that would have added another $500 bucks to the price of the car. I don't mind spending money on things that make a car faster or at least more pleasent to drive, but an extra $1500 between the paint and higher tax did not work for me. I did go crazy and get the red brake calipers however.

agreed, but for $10 you can make the yellow one silver! LOL

My old modified and scale rendition.

Love the white VW, but I had a black 62 with the full canvas sunroof as well. It was my second car after a 59 Chev 4 door, but it was the most fun of any of the dozen or so cars I have owned. After two motor blows/rebuilds, I figured it was time for a new one and bought a 67 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door hardtop, new for $2700 CAD. Then I filled it up with gas at $0.39.9 a gallon (Imperial).

Those were the days, eh?
