What do car guys do in winter? We rebuild our race cars. Current projects;

Genie Ford Mk8; new frame, bottom end of engine, new guts for Hewland

Austin-Healey 100/4; Finish engine overhaul, install new interior, new paint

Porsche 914-6gt; Install bigger oil cooler, replace Weber 40IDA3Cs

Elva Courier; Engine rebuild, new aluminum panels in interior, install Tilton brake system

Jaguar E-type; I'd like to get this out of storage and drive it next summer

Mustang GT; new seals in rear end, fix seam in drivers seat, sell

Lotus 62; hunt down and acquire parts missing from "basket".

Whew! Good thing I'm retired now.

Dave. Mate, I can't even get my Slotcars sorted out, let alone work through a list like that in 1:1 scale.

Could we have some pictures please.

I'm not sure if I'm envious, or feel bad for you.

Yep, I've decided - I'm definately envious.

Oh crap! Stupid Facebook! It was for the kids. I..I got nothing. You got me. Funny thing is I went to a dollar general and a Little Caesar's pizza and nobody acted like anything was out of the ordinary.

Some of those projects have been waiting the que for many years. The Elva currently has
an early MG-B three bearing motor, which I will rebuild and use. I also have the B-style 1600
which was originally in the car. This was punched out to 1875 cc and has a lot of special parts
Frank Nichols had made for the Sebring race. It is in very poor condition and will be difficult
to restore to original, but would be a selling point when it comes time to let it go, so I plan
do it. A photo of this car is elsewhere in this forum, I believe in a thread about cars in the
background of photos, possibly started by wolsleyhornet. The Lotus 62 is a basket case,
mostly leftover parts from the two cars which were completed. Mine would make a third.
I have body sections and some molds, several LV240 motors and parts, and various suspension
items. The engines were developed from the Vauxhaul Vectra slant four, with a twin cam
4 valve per cylinder head designed by Weslake, and Tecalemit slide valve fuel injection.

These cars were accumulated over 40 years of sports car collecting and racing. If there is a good
point to being in the tool and die business, it allowed me a pretty good living, and money to buy
the things I wanted. Now that I am retired, it is time to finish these projects off.

Far out, man. That looks so vintage. super job. I did these when I was a kid. My dad did them
when he was a kid, and taught me. I know this is a slot racing forum, but I so enjoy these little
diversions. So often they bring back memories of things I did as a kid, but had forgotten all about
them.

I like the diversions as well and LOVE that airplane! I did one as a kid with the paper, balsa, and liquid dope. That stuff was seriously nasty!
