As of 10pm tonight, August 11th, it will have been 50 years since I was run over on the side of a road in London, Ontario. It was my first date in Canada, with the actual prettiest girl in town- really, she really was, and the dearest, sweetest girl I had ever met (remember I was 15- we rode the bus!). Many months later when I was finally out of the hospital, my family moved back to the US and I never got to see her again, but a few years ago I found her online. I just wrote her to notify her of our 50th anniversary. Just goes to show you- hang around long enough and you get the strangest things to celebrate! Hoohah!

This story might not have resonated with me as much if I hadn't just attended my 45th high school reunion last weekend. After promising myself I would not be an idiot and confess any of the unrequited crushes from my youth, when a woman who was in every elementary school class with me came over to talk - I blurted out that I had the biggest crush on her way back when. It was like someone hit me with a supersize dose of truth serum. She smiled slyly, and replied "I knew".

I'm hoping to connect with her online to fill in the gaps in our life stories. We're both married now, but I'm looking forward to having a new-old friend to stay in touch with through the golden years.

OK, waay, so what's the real scoop................? Is she still the prettiest girl in town? Is she ready to re-open the old books? Or was she the one driving the car that hit you 50 years ago.............?

I'm headed into my 50th HS reunion on September 17th - should be interesting.............
