Local interest in 1/32 slot cars slowly picking up

I have had DeBary Glen open now for almost two years and although there has been a core group who have raced attendence has remained sporadic and small. Now, possibly due to the addition of a second track interest seems to be picking up. Last week a couple of guys from jacksonville drove down and spent the afternoon with us and yesterday a fellow called after seeing my flyer at a hobby shop in Sanford wanting to know if I still had the track open. After I told him yes he got directions and was there about a half an hour later with his two kids and a neighbors boy. They had fun driving some of my Scaley GT cars and are interested in getting into a Saturday morning youth racing program. The father is also interested in participating in our Friday night races. He told me they had purchased a SCX digital set last year but that the cars had become inoperable after a couple of months. They all said they liked my analog tracks much better after only about an hour.

So hopefully 2013 will be the year that DeBary Glen gets into full swing.

ModlerBob,

I have to applaud your efforts in bringing new peop;e into this very interesting hobby of slot car racing. I know you spend a lot of time, effort and money to provide a place for folks to come and learn about slot cars! Super job!
