I was a motorhead (gearhead?) even before I was became a slothead. I think it's something you either inherit or you don't.
Two grandsons grew up right next door, Cecil and Wyatt (aka Skeeter). They are both good people (not kids anymore) and very bright. Cecil was never into cars, as long as it ran well and got you from point A to B, that's all that mattered. But Skeeter, from about the age of 3 or 4, if he heard a sound like this coupe he'd run to the window to see what it was. By 5 or so he could name every car in a parking lot based on its emblem (bowtie, blue oval, etc.). If we were out and a muscle car drove past he'd whip his head around to watch it and look at me with a big grin. Many times he'd scare the crap out of me by yelling "BAMPA!" while driving somewhere - making me think I was about to run over some old lady I hadn't seen. Then he'd say "Did you see that Chevelle?". And ever since I got my 2012 Mustang he's wanted me to cut off the mufflers and up the anti with a new set of Borla or Magna Flow ones. The louder and more throaty the growl the better.
Slothead

One of the beautiful aspects of sports car racing is the variety of motor notes. A V6 whine, the V8 growl, the piercing V12 scream of the Matra.....and the entirely unworldly wail of the Mazda 4 rotor...a scream like no other.
All music to this fan's ears.

Yep. Me too. The one time I rode in a Ferrari was a GTO. At the top RPM of first gear and 2nd gear, it sounded like someone was ripping silk right beside my ear.
Het Slothead, we lead parallel lives in a way... One of my best friends as a boy was a guy named Cecil K___, and his nickname was Skeeter, also Skeet.
