Have an unusual question. What do you guys use in gluing plastic together? I have a 12v back up sump pump that I snapped off the fitting that screws into the pipe. I use this for draining the excess water off the pool cover. Pressure is not the problem, the problem is it's attached to the end of a 10' pvc pipe so it has to hold it's own weight carrying and putting it into the pool. I tried using 5 minute epoxy but it didn't hold very long. The weight was to much. What do you guys use for a high strength glue. Not sure what kind of plastic the pump is.

Figure out some way to make a sandwich and use epoxy as your Mayo. Drywall plastic mesh or something similiar. Or just get a new fitting.

Dave, Get some Oatey PVC Cement from Home Depot etc.,..................specifically for PVC and most plastics, apparently used by most pool maintenance and repair companies for assembling and repairing lines

JB Weld also do an epoxy designed expressly for plastics although you'd need to check the specs to see if they match the plastics you're wanting to glue together.

Try E6000 , it is thick, strong, and sold at plastics shops and some hardware stores.

Dave , can you put a smaller diameter pipe inside of it [for added strength] and just glue the original over the outside like a sleeve. For what you are using it for I wouldn't think the decreased size will be a problem. PVC cement or JB weld would be my first choice. Some of those pump bases are made of fiberglass reinforced nylon or plastic. I have some JB WELD CLEARWELD 5minute stuff that says it will do pvc, fiberglass, and most plastics. Not sure if that is what you used or not?
Another solution might be to use a brass fitting of the appropriate size with male threads on both ends. It should cut its own threads as you screw it in, as long it is not so big as to crack the housing.
