If this is the wrong place for this thread, please feel free to move it. I just thought this was about the best place to get input from all scales.
So what is your favorite genre or category of slot car?
At our club, we started out with Slot.It Group C cars. We really like this type of racing. These cars are raced on our Scalextric Sport 64 foot per lap track. Most of the cars will turn laps in the 4.6 to 4.7 second range. Perhaps the reason many of us enjoy this type of racing is that we have a background in 1/24th commercial raceways running "Flexi" chassis cars. The Group C cars, with magnets, provide a very reasonable facsimile of this type of racing.
However when we added our 65 foot routed MDF track in December, all of a sudden 1960's and early 1970 Stock cars became very popular over night. The Carrera cars just run so well with a set of Paul Gage tires on them and some of the 'magic' we have learned from reading all the excellent tech tips here on HRW. The cars' performance are so close from car to car that the only difference is made by the driver "getting up on the wheel". The races we have held thus far always results in close finishes with the race usually being decided on the last lap and the difference is usually in inches. Lots of FUN!
So what is your favorite type of slot car to race?

Well since I can only pick ONE...the Classic NASCAR is tops for me. Carrera then Monograms.
Like most I have a slew of favorites...VERY hard to pick just one.

I'll take any car that passes for a 50's and early 60's SCCA style racer. Ninco Classics often fit this bill, but any manufacturer's cars that look the part and are tuned to run like those Classics are my preferred runners.

I tend to bounce around as to which is my favorite genre of cars...
Right now I like running the Group C's, our HOST GT class (pretty much wide open rules), and the 60's Lemans Classic series.
Next week, I'll probably be running Sporstcars, Vintage Sportscars (slower motors) or Trans-Am cars.
I've been wanting to tune one of the Racer Group 5 cars, as I think they'll be good runners.

I really like the sports and endurance cars from the late 50's, 60's and 70's; actually anything that wasn't designed by a wind tunnel and computer. Those are the cars I fell in love with as a kid. I have been hooked on the Fly cars (not Flyslot) since I came back into slot racing but the Slot.it Alfa and Ford GT are my favorites. I just wish they would bring out some other marques. I am sure Lola T-70 GT would be a hot selling car.

I love my NASCARs from pre-1973, and jalopies and modifieds are lots of fun, but I still like the LeMans type cars from the late 1960s and early 70s the most. I must have a dozen or more Lola T-70s, between the enclosed cockpit and open cockpit versions. I still have one Fly kit Lola I've been saving all these years.

My favorite type of car in any form, full scale to slot cars, are anything made before the mid 1970's. From tiny little odd cars from over seas to the American land yachts of the 50's through the 70's. As street cars or hot rods to the super stocks of the drag strip, or modified for racing like the Trans Am or early NASCAR/Grand Nationals, to Saturday night dirt trackers, to Rally cars to the sports cars of the 60's...... Ok, I narrowed it down as close to one as I could

Like the majority so far I favor those that are pre 1970s, primarily 50s & 60s regardless of the class. Basically, when the cars that raced were the ones Joe Public could buy. That's one of the reasons I liked the old Carrera Panamericana so well....all of them raced together and many were virtually driven from the dealership to the race. In slots I prefer non-magnet cars with realistic motor speeds.

Got to be vintage Le Mans. Growing up, Le Mans was some mythic place that I read about, where the best automotive brains in the world got together to duke it out with the coolest cars backed by the best sports car makers. They raced at night, they raced in the rain...it was cooler than cool. Still feel the same way about it today. :)

I knew he couldn't let that one go by... Sometimes I think we unconsciously bait him to see what he'll do.
