Awesome read!
Thanks for sharing!
Also I have a 6 year old and 8 year old daughters that everytime I'm down on my track want to race with me.
They have learned from their good old Dad how to rub paint off the fenders with the best of them.
These are some of the best times of my life when we are down racing beating and banging cars around the track!
Plus it keeps them out of trouble too!

Great article, thanks for posting it. :)
Slot racing is one of the few activities these days where kids can accomplish something with their own hands. Seems like the only things kids have are video games or sports, and not much in between.

Great post, Goosenapper. :) We've sold our kids short by taking away things like wood and metal shop in the schools, and we've taken away their opportunity to get interested in things like craftsmanship. There's no better way for a kid to learn about attention to detail, and to learn about using tools and fixing things. Slot cars are good motivators for things like that, where computers seem to foster a throw-away mentality.

Its all true, and by the way, do you guys love seeing pictures of Jeremy's little girls working on slot cars as much as I do?
It is also true, for what its worth, that young adults who were video gamers and continue to be gamers now are naturals on a slot car track. There are all kinds of sophisticated sensory and perception neuropsychological reasons that training for slot racing by lightning quick video game operation and reaction works, but you don't need them. Just watch one of these kids embrace slot car racing and stand back. They will sail past you after a couple of heats. Yes, Jenny, I am talking about you...
