I actually wrote this twice, but lost it somehow because another post came in ahead of me... don't ask, I don't know.
Anyway, here's the short version. First, that looks very nice, and if this is not something you do very often, you may want to look for something called "veneer tape", which is ironed onto the edges to hide the laminations. But then, that's a really good job, so maybe you know all about that, and this isn't your first time out.
I am about to have to do something similar. We had a popped pipe a few weeks ago, and all the cabinets over there were wrecked. There are over 1130 albums (I still have everything back to 1962), who knows how many cassettes and CDs, but I didn't keep the 8-tracks! They all lived in the floorboards of the Dodge anyway.
The stereo is an old Dual (yes, the best I ever saw), and a Technics dual Cassette deck, stacked on a Technics CD changer. But the receiver is the star of the group. Its a 1972 Radio Shack (made by Fisher), STA2000- 100 true watts per channel, and the power section is all vacuum tubes ("valves" for Brit-speak). It toggles eight components, with ins and outs for all, and can drive eight speakers (I never had more than four), in two choirs (yes, they used to call it that when you had A and B separate stereo speakers with dual controls for each). When I have the house to myself, I crank up everything from Freddy and the Dreamers to the Kinks, the Stones, Canned Heat, Moody Blues, and everything Led Zepplin ever did- then hours of the London Philharmonic, Van Cliburn, D'Oly Carte, and so on. But the real fun is dragging out the Dillards, Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe and all the boys. I'm all over the map. I even collect circus music, and Gypsy Guitar Jazz. I'm so indecisive.
