My latest restoration project

Postby BRP32 » Thu Jun 20, 2013 7:06 pm

Hi Guys,

Here is my latest restoration project.

No it isn't a slot car..... It could be used to haul quite a few though.....

It was a real heap when I acquired it from my neighbors tree lawn. I wish I took the before pics of it....

The wooden bottom was all rotted out from water damage over the years and the wheels were rusty.

I had one of these 40 years ago and thought it would be neat to restore it for my girls to enjoy and save it from the garbage dump.

I took it all apart, cleaned all the parts, replaced the rotted wood bottom with new and put it all back together.

Being I work for a large paint company I got safety red heavy industrial paint to coat it with. It shouldn't need repainted for quite a number of years now. I also sprayed the wheels and under carriage with our paint products also.

I still need to build the wooden stake sides for it yet. They will be painted white also.

This radio flyer wagon looks brand new again!

Father restored...... Kid approved!!!

Wayne, great job on the wagon. The girls seem to approve also. Ah, the memories of having no fear as a kid riding down a hill in those..

Looks great! The kids seem to approve also. I remember more that one scraped body part from those. I still have a small scar on the bridge of my nose from the handle.

Thanks Guys!

Yeah it was a fun build plus I helped the enviroment from it going to the dump.

I wish I had taken before pics of how bad it was......

I still need to build the stake sides for it yet and paint them white.

The girls will have the wheels wore off of it playing with it before I can get it completed!

The smiles on their faces was worth all the effort put forth!

To go back to our childhoods again and not have a worry in the world........

Have a great weekend!

Hi David!

Thanks!

Not as cool as your BarnYard Bomber you just built but hey I'll take it!

The wagon was my latest barn(tree lawn) find!!!!

It originally looked like it sat in a barn for years it was so bad.

I like restoring old things and making them useful again.

It was a fun little build.

Not a 1:1 old car restoration mind you but I'm working my way there again.....

I need to get back to finishing those next couple of resin bodies you sent.

I will get back to focusing on them shortly....

Have a great weekend!
