The "skinny" about food and HRW

A few years ago due to some health issues, I dropped 25 pounds. After shoulder surgery last fall, I gained 8 back to 170. My original goal was to get to 160. So, I've 10 pounds to get down to still.

I currently try to stay under 2000 calories daily. FYI - for my height and weight my minimum should be 1800 and my max is 2900. I walk everywhere and hit the bike as I can. I also stay busy constantly.

Throw into the mix a trip to the world-class HRW soup kitchen for the slot-impaired, and you KNOW there is the probability of being fed something while there. I think I tried to escape without eating there last time and the Dixon County Sheriff threw me in the klink overnight for not eating - not something I'd like to re-live...

So basically, if Harry takes me to White Castle on the first day and I stick with the original sliders (those have 140 calories each according to their website) I should be able eat 14...and NOTHING else for the day ;) I'll ignore the fact that EVERYTHING is fried on the menu and the only vegetables are the onions and pickles on the burgers. Luckily I have heard they don't stay with you long :o

Add to that the half of a cow and pig I'm sure he'll be fixing along with Cindy's biscuits the size of Buick hubcaps, "snacks" - whatever that consists of, tater tot casserole with the smallest serving being larger than a Yugo and something tells me this is going to be a bad weekend for watching my diet.

I think I'll bring my jogging shorts. Those will be comfy...to sleep in.

Hey, lost some weight? No worries...we will find it!

Better put in the 20 minute workout VHS tapes now...this is the first event I've had to finance the meat.

Zero down, low monthly payments PLUS a free ink pen. It's all for you brother.

Play the 20 minute workout at fast forward. You get a workout in five minutes and get back to eating. Its the only way to go!

Dave forget the calorie counting, laughter is better workout than a 500K bike ride, trust me we will make you laugh, you could get down to 150 on this trip

I have already ordered new work pants a size bigger so I will have pants that fit when I get back..

Dave you know you are lucky just to stay under 2000 calories per meal at HRW so you will be lucky to do 8000 daily during the visit.

Man, I can almost taste Cindy's biscuits, the tater tot casserole and smell that grill already...ITS ALL GOOD!

Our planes may not be able to take off on the way home...

I'm so glad you tried the biscuits, David. Its such an unusual recipe and they taste so great, it seems like they should be heavy, but they are some of the lightest biscuits I have ever made. Where you live, you should be able to find Krusteez, which is the best I have found in this country. Bisquick added chemicals for preservation years ago and tastes funny to me, and Martha White and many others that come in a pouch at the store just don't taste like Southern biscuits at all. But Krusteez, way up in Washington State, makes the best Southern biscuit mix I ever tasted. Before I found it, I was going back to making biscuits from scratch the old way.

Its just the similarity of my lovely figure and Charles Durning's. That and the natural superiority of Southern cookin'. Its why Paul Prudhomme, Charles Durning, Paula Deen and I all have similar bodies! Its because our wives don't want us to be able to "r-u-n-n-o-f-t".
