Not a bad problem to have - but still

So I need to find a support group of like minded souls.

I have a problem. My slot budget isn't unlimited but I know it is better than a lot of folks. I don't actually set myself a budget (I probably should) but also don't spend excessive amounts on slot stuff.

So my problem is I read about all these new releases and think I would really like to get that car - e.g. Flyslot Flying Lizard Porsche, slot.it Porsche GT1, SRC Capri.

Whilst waiting for them to be released and reading the fora and looking on eBay I then stumble across other nice things - eg some nice Munter resins, some 1/24 vintage kits, some old rare Ninco McLaren at bargain prices, and before I know if I have spent my budget (which I haven't decided on anyway) for the new shiny glittery cars on other things. So then I feel guilty because I still want those new release cars but need to justify in my mind the purchase of them.

So you see I have a problem I think I buy to many shiny baubles. So any other like minded SCA members out there who want to share there stories :) ie anyone keep blowing their budget buying lots of shiny old cars instead of shiny new cars?

I feel a bit better now that I have gotten that off my chest.

DM

I know I have that happen once in a while. I buy some older car that I missed when it came out whilst waiting for the new ones, and then the new release appears and I have no money for it. Then it becomes the older car, and the cycle starts all over. It just never ends. :)

Do you really want it to end?

Nope, I don't

I just need to hear that I am not alone - nothing worse than being the only one with a problem

I am sure we all have done this.

Seems sometimes it is the other way around for me. I wait for that new release, get it and then the very next day someone posts in the For Sale section some great deal.

DM- You are most certainly not alone. I seem to do this every month. I start out thinking that I'll grab a new release, but then I'll see a deal on an oldie that I thought I'd never be able to afford pop up, and pull the trigger on that instead. That seems to happen a lot more frequently than buying new cars and then having to pass on deals for oldies, but that did happen recently too.

Taking it a step further, I need about $50 worth of track and boarders to complete my new layout. Every month I say I'm going to get it, but then I'll see a deal on a car- a car that I can't drive, mind you, because my track is incomplete! It's like my collector instinct overrides my brain. Anyhow, see? It could be worse.

I don't have a budget per se but if I start spending "too much" on slot stuff I get "THE LOOK" from the household manager...... That's why I'm sticking with building cars, buying/resurrecting/repainting used ones. I can much more easily afford to buy the "new" stuff like wheels, tires that I do need. And also keep harmony in the household :shifty:
