Very cool Mark.
I remember those days. Although from a distance. I recall the first SCX car he brought down to your basement.
I think my first visit was when we went to that other hobby shop and checking to see if anyone had answered the "ad" you posted. Hey, I am pretty sure we bought some old Bachamnn cars out of the window there?
Anyway, this is very good news. I think you, and the club you guys helped build have made big difference.
CONGRATS!

I went there once during the DCS. Very nice hobby shop. I need to check it out now that it has expanded. Nice write up about a nice place. Thanks Mark. :)

Good post, Mark. Wish I could have been there Saturday! :)
Scale Reproductions has been very good to us, very responsive and helpful. We appreciate them a great deal, and they show our club that same appreciation. It's been a great relationship. Russ is kind of our 'point guy', speaking up for us when Brian is making purchasing decisions, and between the two of them, we never feel like we're missing something. They've really done a great job supporting the racers and the collectors.
Mark, I had my open house in February of '04, and we met shortly after that. The club is approaching its 10th birthday. :)
In the early days, there were a lot of times when we only had three guys show up, but we never felt like we were missing something. We were happy just to get together and play with toy cars. We have a lot of members now, and sometimes it's great to just have a group of three guys -- four lanes, no waiting, and lots of side-by-side racing. It's all good, no matter how large the club is!

Looks like a nice, clean, well stocked hobby/slot shop.
Glad to see everyone supporting the place and keeping the proprietor in business.
Good luck and good racing! -- Ernie

Brian has mentioned to me his appreciation to Mark for posting. For me, a million thanks to Mark for communicating such a positive message....and....to our friends Jenny, Kurt and Harry for your thoughts and comments. We also appreciate the support of all who have taken the time to post replies!!!
During the past seven years we have endeavored to build a sustainable niche in the local slot car hobby scene. We've kept it local and 'low key', somewhat on purpose, as we focused on a basic commitment to keep it simple, do it well and keep our customers informed. I continue to work on that everyday-it's terrific 'therapy'.
We will continue to build our little shop with the solid foundation of our core group of enthuasiats and collectors.
Some may not be familiar with our slot shop at Scale Reproductions Hobby Shop, located in Louisville KY. We are very carefull in our attempts to find balance in supply and demand for cars as this market is not that big and we do not wish to flood the market with limited edition models. So, our product lineup includes all the significant manufacturers such as Carrera, Scalextric, Ninco, Slot.it, Revell-Monogram, the various Fly incarnations, SRC, Sideways, SCX to mention a few.
With the comings and goings in the industry we attempt to track that at the customer level with a brief e-news called SlotNoise. Published as necessary, we pack it full of new release arrivals and notification of reservation availability, then there are the upcoming releases that you actually can reserve as/or after we have preordered with our suppliers. It's free to all, so if you have interest, please pm me with your email addy/name and such and you shall receive. We also welcome your phone and email orders!! I personally maintain a backorder listing with all reservations for all new releases this and every year.

I had a chance to visit this shop during the last DCS Mark and Tracy held ( don't recall the year-2008?), and even back then it was a great store to shop at. I recall I bought a Scalextric McLaren F1 car there. And the best part was the ride to and from the store. I got to ride not only with Mark, but the Bossman Harry was in the car as well. For a guy from the little state of NH, that was a pretty big thrill

That's the same DCS I spoke of earlier in this thread. I think there was at least 2 cars full of slot nuts. I bought a Fly truck and something else, can't remember, but it is a nice shop. :)

Worth mentioning, the shop has only improved since that DCS event five years ago. Back then, you really had to know what you were looking for. Now you can try the cars out, and the support has gotten better and better over the years -- much more noob-friendly, just a great place. :)
