What is with Ninco?

Postby Dangermouse » Fri Oct 25, 2013 1:50 am

So I see a lot of sales at the moment for Ninco cars - so the question is are they in trouble or has someone at Ninco finally worked out that as good as their cars are they are not better than Scalextric or Carrera cars which sell for $25 or $30 less (based on RRP)

spain is in real trouble... the unemployment rate is 50% for men under 30. if ninco didn't branch out into other hobby fields they would be long gone. i expect them to be the next to go.

I've heard rumors of Ninco's demise for about 5-6 years, but they keep hanging on. The last catalog I saw was geared very heavily toward RC, so they are more diverse than we might realize here in the US. Doesn't make them immune to going under, but it does help.

They've released some nice cars lately. Not a lot of them, but some nice ones. They've released some nice classics, Porsche 356s and Jaguars (XK120s and E-types), their Lancias have been very nice (Stratos and 037), and the R18 and Audi R8 are both wonderful cars. So they don't appear to be dead in the water, but they do appear to be more selective in what they release.
