Got to do something cool tonight!

So, those that know me know I was born in the wrong generation. If I had my pick, I'd have been flying P-51s in Europe during WWII or cruising the streets of Southern California in 1962.
To that last one - American Graffiti is in my Top 5 of favorite movies. I have now seen it well over 100 times...mostly as a teenager, but I probably watch it every few months while working on cars in the skunkworks.
Tonight was a first though - I convinced my daughter to sit down and watch it. She actually liked it!
Kind of cool getting to introduce her to the movie.
...and now you know why I'm waiting on Greg to finish up his track :banana-dance:
For the record...I hate the second one - go figure.

It is a classic. And that is very cool. But, that movie just relates to us regardless of age. Or at least I think so.
In a sort of related note, I bought my grandson Iron Man 3. Very good. Although when I see "Iron Patriot" I picture your son applying for the job :)

That's funny - I'll tell him you said that.
I love the Marvel world of superhero movies...some of my favorite modern ones, although Captain America is my fav of the bunch thus far. Again...just be the generational thing...

I can relate, too. I graduated in 1970 and cruised the East side Columbus, Ohio on Friday/Saturday nights; my best friend had a 63 Biscayne, 6 Cyl badges, rubber floor, dog dish hubcaps, 3 on the tree....and a 283 under the hood. Lot's of suprised street racers! :auto-layrubber: Not Modesto in '62 but close enough for me.
Shotgun and Dave R. I'm another of those "old souls": I love 40s Big Band music, I always checked out the WWII history of the bases I was stationed at, the most beautiful plane (big wing) ever was the B-17. While the "Vietnam Era" and the Cold War were "my" conflicts I always felt an affinity to the "greatest generation".

Dave - Warbirds are a special thing...that's why I was over the moon at WPAFB. Growing up in Europe and getting to see the places of epic battles and realizing the associated costs - both human and materials - it made me really appreciate the people of that generation. A friend's dad was a B-17 Pilot and was an instructor during the war. I was at his house yesterday and he has an awesome picture of him along with his wings and pilot certificate. I asked if he kept flying and he said after the war he got out of the service and that was it. Amazing.
There is a fantastic Highland Games festival in Estes Park, CO every year. There is a major WWII exhibit and guys in full gear. The cool thing is the Tattoo they do there. There is usually a big Marine or other service band there. Lots of excellent period music there.
Back to AG - simply great stuff.

David,
Sharing your interests is always a great experience. When my grandaughters come over they always ask if they can race my slot cars. I turn the voltage down and away we go. Best dang sharing I've ever done. BTW - they will be 4 and 3 in a few weeks.
I've often said if I had an opportunity to "come back" in a different life, it would be as a USAAF pilot flying P-51 Mustangs or P-38 Lightnings towards the end of WW-ll and then winding up in Korea flying F-86 Sabers.
Three great planes there.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes American Graf, my all time favourite movie. 2nd one not so much, still worth a watch every decade :)
Yeah track is slow progress, sorry David. Im still debating about what to do with the barriers. Plenty of good ideas but Im still stumped. Once I get past that I should be good to go. I figure if I leave it long enough they might build themselves :) Oh & I got sidetracked with Harrys Dart buildup.
