Just watched a "New" Drag racing series on Aussie Fox. Outlaw Funny Cars.
Old School Nitro Funny cars is the new class taking off over here.
Nostalgia bodies, Single Fuel Pump and Magneto, old style KB Hemis and Gm Blowers.

No computers or multistage clutches or Carbon Fibre.
Cars Black tracking, tyre Shaking and Smoking the bags, drivers peddling and changing gears, just like when I was a kid.
Still running Mid to High 5's.
I hope it sticks around. It seems it's pulling some crowds.
It was just like watching that old video- American Nitro.

The nostalgia thing is big here too. Drag racing in its purest form, just a car and driver. :)

our local commercial track BULLITT SPEEDWAY, which had held the fastest 1/4 mile recorded pass in the US has gone completely nostalgia. No glue bracket racing, and they have never had so much interest. Skip says it`s the best thing that has happened to the drag program.

Once stuff gets perfected, it isn't fun any more. Nostalgic drags are fun. Everything is kind of raw, none of these slick professional race teams.

Same for road racing, same for slot car racing. :dance:

Same reasoning why I switched over to vintage sports car racing. It was costing a fortune
to keep a car updated for hard core racing. In vintage, the cars were supposed to be kept
just as they were originally raced. Somewhere along the line, though, that theory went
out the window. Just the same, you could keep the car original or fudge a bit, however
you wanted. There is no sponsorship or contingency money.
