How many projects do you currenty have going?

Postby HRWJim » Thu Jan 09, 2014 5:03 pm

Ok title says it all . I started to count up and organize the current projects I have started and it blew me away. I have 45 started. Ranging from tune ups, rebuilds of older cars, Repaints and scratch builds. They break down to 10 in 1/24 with the rest being in 1/32. I have made a new years resolution to complete them all. I took the morning and listed them in priority and started to make a parts list. It's huge! Expect a New Years sale this weekend. LOL . The 25 dollar G/G to SCC, Santa brought won't go far. So how many do you have going? I can't be the only one but I'll bet I'm one of the worst  Jim

My life is a project, my house is a project and my track????(shakes head)
As for slot car projects there are many.

I think this is normal for normal folks.

Well I pretty much keep mine one at a time. Unless I throw a proxy car in the mix. But as far as what is inline.

17-Completes
7-Chassis Only
5-Paint Jobs
5 or so Proxy Cars to freshen up
Then I have no idea how many RTR's that just need tuning. Then on top that I need to start my test track.

I really need to pick up the pace here.

As usual, way too many. Actually. I think I'm scared to count the up. Here's some off the top of the head, without digging into the toy room. All are 'underway'...

Track (I could actually say tracks plural, but mine will always be in the process so I won't count it)
2 brass chassis builds
3 rally cars being blue printed and tuned for someone else
2 repaint cars in primer
1 Scaley repaint being BMFed
2 resin kits underway but thrown in the drawer in disgust as the kits are fighting all the way
5 XK120 repersonality/repaints waiting for some final detailing (whitewall tyres arrived today.... Yay!)
2 problem cars being rebuilt (not just tuned)
2 display dioramas started but sat aside because other things came in

I really don't think I want to dig any further

And I have 3 proxy cars due in March. Only one commenced so far. Oh and a commission for a large (2') display diorama.

First, I am proud of you Jim! Think of the money you will save not having to buy the parts you KNOW you already have :)

4 1/25 H&R projects...oh plus another kit purchased today.
14 Custom 1/32's. from RMS & MT Resins to a couple Monograms.
ALL of those brass chassis.
6 "quick tune" jobs on Scaley Trans-Ams
4 Ninco rebuilds.

Not to mention forum/site items :)

I would estimate around 50+ projects. It gets kind of overwhelming when I think about it. Maybe a garage sale is in order.

If I count individual cars (items), the total is too depressing to report.

There are 8 XK120s in the lineup, two of which will be really special redos I look forward to. Did you know an XK120 set a land speed record in 1953? I didn't.

3 Cougars
3 Challengers
1 VW Beetle with teardrop trailer
2 more VW Beetles
2 VW busses
1 VW truck
1 Smokey Yunick '57 Chevy
1 Saleen
2 1965 Galaxies
1 1964 Falcon
1 Tucker
1 '49 Mercury
2 Hudsons
1 Porsche 911
1 Lola GT
1 Firebird
1 Sunbeam Alpine
1 Karmann-Ghia
2 300 SLs
4 1940 Fords
1 Fiat 124 Spyder
3 Minis
a really important vacform project
I have to make a decision about financing my slot cars with woodworking and custom painting candlesticks, of all things
There's a leaking pipe I can't find under my house
Tractor needs new front tires
Fix up and sell 6 1:1 VWs of various kinds
Crank and sell antique tractor
My usual caretaker duties for 3 people and two houses
Can I blow my brains out now, or do I have to do all this first? phffftt!

Finish retaping the Little King.
Rebuild Frog hollow track.
Tune on the Stealth Camaro.
Start working on the repair and tune list we keep by the track. 9 items long.
4- kits waiting for build up.
That's the hobby stuff. plus 79 normal "projects"

Way better to have plans and projects than sit on the porch bored outta your skull :violin:
Keep on with the fun kids

I have about a dozen in various stages of construction, then another half dozen once-finished cars from which I have stolen parts to complete others.

It is a vicious circle that is soon to increase its radius. I have two more project chassis and six more resin bodies on order.

Good thing I got some slot car $$$ for Christmas.

WAAAAY too many. Six built 1/32 models to convert. 3 dozen other models needing chassis. 3 resin kits. At least a dozen cars needing tuning with several Fly Classics among them. A couple commercial brass chassis waiting for their vintage clear bodies. A dozen vintage cars awaiting restoration. Later this summer, a new track.
I gave up trying to keep count years ago. The MGA that is becoming a proxy car has been around for at least 5 years, waiting....guess I finally got a Round Tuit....

This is great! I am glad I am in good company. You know I felt slightly over whelmed myself until I wrote them down. It's nice to know I have company.
As far as your comment Harry I find the parts eventually and I 'm getting more organized. it's kinda of the pot calling the kettle black if your talking about parts. You got Slot Car Corner South in your basement LOL Jim

Jeremy, I already copy-and-pasted the list on my post to a document to put on my desktop screen. There's comfort in a list. Its like naming your fears, putting a label on politicians, etc.
