I always thought there was a railroad guy lurking in some of Harry's posts. Some day I'll sell off a bunch of my old HO RR stuff, but I'm keeping the narrow gauge locos, especially those unique logging and industrial locos. Shays, Heislers, Climax, Camelbacks, etc, are all favorites of mine.

I think that same one showed up in CARToons. Not surprising. Almost all those magazines I read in those days were published from the same address.

Ah, good memories of good old Floquil Greasy Black. Nothing does more to bring out the realism on steam than a coat of greasy black, followed by weathering. Many happy hours making clean locos look real. Thanks for the photos.

My thing used to be 1/48 aircraft, weathered, battle damaged and a couple dioramas. I leaned toward WWII era aircraft but not always in the typical roles. Among others, I remember, I did an Israeli P-51, USAAF Beech Staggerwing, an F-8 Bearcat if it had made it to Vietnam instead of the A-1. Yes the Floquil weathering paints are old friends of mine. I still have a diorama of a battle damaged B-17 on a hardstand boxed up someplace, if I can find it and it has survived, I'll try and get a pic of it.

Ah, the Beech Staggerwing... The reason we aren't overrun with doctors and lawyers. The only aircraft less forgiving of error than the Beechcraft Bonanza V-tail. Another reason we aren't overrun with the over paid.

The Staggerwing sure was pretty, though, and I love that engine, no matter what its on.

I also have a pile of Model Railway stuff mainly LNER but a fair bit of stuff from my Dad who was an old school scratchbuilder,
Including an Sn3 1/2 All Brass West Australian steam engine. Theres also a load of logging trucks made from brass which go behind an odd American Steam Loco that has little Drive Shafts instead of coupling Rods, is that a Shay?
I really must set it all up one day. Although unlike Dad Trains definitely take a back seat to slots.
I like planes too, and have a cabinet full in 1/72.

Funny how we all seem to have similar interests apart from Slot cars.
