Raise a lager to your lips, folks! Its Australia Day down under. If I could chip the ice and snow off the grill, I'd cook something! As it is, I have plenty of beer and good stories to tell.

On behalf of the rest of the upsidedown mob I say thanks.
Officially it was yesterday (Sunday) but we have a public holiday long weekend going on so there's still some celebrating to be done today (Monday) in the land girt by sea.

My three Australians neighbors are drunk, but the snow has kept them inside.

Glad to hear you all getting into the spirit.
Johnny... I shudder at the mere mention of the word haggis. One has only to have read a recipe for it to know it's inedible. No wonder the Scots drink so much whisky. Something is needed to revive folk after eating haggis. Water of life to the rescue.

In 1965, I had the unique priviledge of having haggis sprung on me by a Scot neighbor. I thought it had gone bad and the lady who made it for us especially didn't know how vomitable it was. She served herself some (which was even more awful looking than mine), and she gobbled it up. She kept saying that if I like oatmeal, I'd like haggis. I was 15, and full of noble spirit, so I finished the horrid filthy stuff. The lady apparently could see that I was forcing myself to eat it, and the next day when I came in from school, she had left a huge cake at the house with instructions that it was all for me.

Mmmm, gotta love a long week-end. When our son did his 'gap' year in England back in 2011, I went over for a holiday. We had a great time driving around the north of England and all through Scotland. Decided to take in the local customs and had haggis several times at various pubs, not bad, surprisingly spicy.
One morning junior decided on a crofters breakfast which was pretty much porridge and a good three fingers of whiskey. He was a bit dozey on the sat-nav that morning.....
Chris.
