Wow, what a great weekend this was! It was so great to have Harry come visit us and we were so pleased that he was able to make the trip down here.
I picked up Harry from the airport on Friday night, unfortunately for him the airline had some delays and he had to wait at his airport for a couple hours before he could get on his way here. Still didn't stop us from staying up until 1am racing some cars though.
Started Saturday out fixing some Cinnamon rolls for breakfast then I took him to my local hobby shop to look at model kits and what limited slot cars they have. Harry got to meet the owner and we all talked about slots and real race cars for awhile. The shop owner then pulled out his photo collection of race car shows he had attended and had quite of few pictures with famous drivers. I'm pretty sure Harry fell in love with this place as its what a real hobby store is all about with everything all over the place. After that we headed up the road to Northern Tool to look around, then to the local meat market and found some really nice fresh Brats. Harry wanted to make us his famous Slotburgers for dinner so we picked up what we needed for that and went back to house and raced some cars. After the great burgers we went back out and raced more cars again until late in the night.
Sunday we had Dunkin Doughnuts for breakfast then I took him out for a little sightseeing to Clearwater Beach to get some pictures. (and enjoy the warm weather) after that we went back and picked up the Brats we saw at the meat market the day before so we could have something special that Harry likes for a dinner. I felt bad he was the one cooking on the grill both nights but I figured it was best to leave it to the pro and not fight him about it. So after that my wife baked a special cake in his honor. This was really just a sneaky strategy to slow him down so I could win a couple races. :auto-driving: We raced until late in the night again having all kinds of great slot fights from T/A, Carrera GT and DTM cars, Classics and Slot Its.
Monday unfortunately the weekend was over and went by too fast as these get togethers usually do. But we were able to do a little racing again before having to head out to the airport. First though I had to take him to our favorite burger place Five Guys so he wouldn't go home hungry. He did approve of their burgers even though they are no Slotburger. Afterwards I dropped him off at the airport and this great weekend came to a end.
Harry, we really enjoyed having you visit us. Cindy, I also want to thank you for making this happen. I am so glad you had a good time and I hope we can do it again soon. Next time you have to bring Cindy with you so we can get her to the beach. I really enjoyed all of our racing and conversations about cars, tuning, parts and just life in general. This is what home racing is all about and we are all very lucky to have people like you in this great hobby. You guys are welcome here anytime! :D
