Unfortunately you will always get some idiots that think they are unbreakable and immortal and will put themselves in harms way with no thought for the people who will have to come in search of them if things go wrong.

Along the highway between Smithers and Prince Rupert in BC, there are several permanent gun platforms. When the snow threatens the highway or the railway line, they set up their cannons on the platforms and shoot it down. I remember bringing my son home from a swim meet and having to wait for hours while they cleared the highway.

I agree with you, Johnny, people who ski or snowmobile in such dangerous conditions are crazy. They should have to post a bond before they go out, so the search parties can be paid to bring back their bodies. We all end up paying for their stupidity.

Of course this is my opinion sitting at my computer in front of a cosy fireplace. Haha!

There are several of those gun emplacements on the Trans Canada Hwy. in the Rogers Pass between Golden and Revelstoke B.C. A "few" decades ago I used to drive across the pass every weekend winter or summer. Sure was cool watching those big guns at work.
