Skunkworks Makeover Part 2

Just finished building the new bench for the lathe and drill press. Also room for a small vise down the road.

Had to pour some concrete as I have a "French Drain" running around the edges. The old skunkworks has been around since '47 and although we have sealed it up 99%, it sometimes leaks a small amount during the heaviest rains. This drain runs it out to the back corner and into a drain.
Plenty of light to see and room to work now.

I think I'm going to have to come by and perform a full inspection. We have to ensure that all HRW guests are safe, well fed, and having a good time.

I've been waiting to see this. Isn't there more to show?

Yes, a full inspection is required.
Yes, there is more to come. Right now the place is still a disaster area. Lot of cleaning and organizing to accomplish. Did not think I would go this far on the makeover, but once we got started on the new bench, and we already had a good mess going, fibured might as well do it all.

Looks really good Harry. Plenty of room for my big carcass in there now. :laughing-rolling: You know I'm gonna have to check it out. 8-)

LOL, well we are all growing boys :) And since the menus won't be changing anytime soon, I am planning for the future.

What area do you have set aside for the buffet table & wet bar?

That is what the deck outside is for :)
But we do have cup-holders bolted to the track. Likely one of the most important items you can have at your drivers station.

Time start looking for some foam pads to go on the floor in front of the bench. Standing at the lathe can really get your back and feet on that concrete floor. Some of the pads are insanely expensive, but the interlocking ones are dirt cheap, four to a pack. They actually are better for me.

Old track table converted for storage and for folks to store slot boxes during events. Made a second wall about foot closer and a new 1x6 trim for the front. Reused the old carpet too.

And an overview.

Locoracer Tom hard at work getting the new bench broke in :)
Been a long haul, but well worth it. Not too shabby for an old hole in the ground.
