They really did a good job on that. CNN gets so many things all balled up in the last 15 years or so, I was very pleased at the choices they made for the article. It would have been tough to choose only the 10 most important innovations.

Thanks. That was a good read.

Look at all the British cars. Better yet, look at all the Loti. One reason I am a Lotus fan, and owner.

Yep, that's a pretty good top 10 and hard to argue with.
Although a Shout should also go out to the Tyrrell 019. That was the first F1 car to use the Hi nose, dropped front wing principle. Designed by Harvey Postlethwaite, the story goes that when Ken Tyrrell showed the 019 to Ron Dennis of McLaren, he lamented that it would take another 12 months for McLaren to put a similar design onto the track, obviously seeing the benefits to be had.
Every F1 design since has incorporated the same principle.
Thanks for the link, it was a good read.

Yes that was fun.
I think thy missed some major stuff but gotta agree with the rear engine Cooper, the Renault turbo and the ground effects Lotus.
What was missed in my opinion:
- The early 50s Ferrari V12 put the surcharged car'(specifically the Alfa's) out to pasture.
- the 1968 Lotus 49 with sponsorship was probably the biggest change to Grand Prix racing ever
- the Ferrari 641 with the semi-auto paddle shift trans has been copied by everyone to this day today

It's funny that most of the trends mentioned were done earlier by the Chaparral guys.
