Was getting ready to do an Ebay serch on some slot cars and model kits and this was on my opening page. I watched this paticula episode of Fast and Loud tonightand watched this car get built. This is absolutely unreal

I hope they saved the proper wheels and tires. Those look silly. I wonder where it was kept all these years. The Texas sun would have cooked that shade of green to gray by now. I bought a VW Thing from a ventilated garage where it had been parked for 23 years in Dallas, and it was fine, but a friend bought a Beetle that had been parked under an open sided shed, and there was very little paint left on it anywhere.

There are several very fine parts houses in Dallas that specialize in NOS Mustang goodies. They must have flipped when the news of this find came out.

They painted the car. I saw the build on TV. I figure they have a total of 25,000 in the car. They gave a cost on the parts and I figure 8 grand in labor. Look close at the picks. There's rust through in the trunk supports. Rust in the doors. Driver side shock tower brace rusted thru. I guess who ever has more money than brains!!! And to top it all off it a fastback, Not a Mach 1

Up to over a 100 grand.
It's Funny, this model was never really popular here in Oz, people seem to want the 65 -69 cars.
One of these sold at a dealership in Perth for just 18 grand last week. Ok it wasn't quite that nice, but it was no dog either.

That 302 engine had serious fire problems when it had a 2bbl carb. There was a little rubber elbow directly underneath the distributor that joined two pieces of metal fuel line, going from the fuel pump to the front of the carb. When it got old it cracked and shot raw fuel straight into the distributor from underneath. Ford quietly repaired the cars for free. I had a nearly new 1977 Bronco that it happened to when the Bronco was only a few years old. Under hood fires are scary stuff. I assume that is why they did the carb and intake swap at the risk of ruining the "original" status of the car. But they did that nonsense with the wheels, too, so who knows?

I had a twin to that car for a loaner for a week when my '65 Mustang was being painted. Uncomfortable, dangerously inadequate visibility from the driver's seat, and the door must have weighed 200 pounds. It took a hard shove to swing it.

So they took an original, unmolested car....and molested it. They did a half-a$$ed job (maybe 3/4-a$$ed), and it's up to 200k.

I bet their friend Dennis, or whatever his name is, is a shill bidder. :lol:

I hope my friend Raymond chimes in here. He has a similar car, but it's an original Mach 1, and I think his car has a manual transmission. Similar miles, and I think he said the car is worth around 50k, maybe more by now. But 200k? Silly.

200k, now I really am annoyed about not getting that one in Perth for 18k. :doh: :doh: :doh:
It's gotta be a BS publicity stunt, after having a closer look at the pictures, it's really not that great, if your going to mess with it at least do it properly, otherwise leave it alone and have a nice original car.

Watch this start forcing the price up on all these.

I just had that sneaky feeling like there's something we (and maybe they) don't know! Like it's an extremely rare car for some reason? Like the only one with factory 8 track, owned by someone famous or something like that? nothing else would explain the price!???

The price is probably explained by the simple act that the car is now a TV star.

Final price went for 57 grand. They must have had a lot of Bogus Bids.
