Hobby Shop Bound?

For the past eight months I have been retired and volunteering to assist folks at the local Workforce Solutions office. This past Thursday I met the prospective new owner of Monroe's only hobby shop and we started talking about model cars, model rocketry, model trains, and (of course) and slot racing. We both had the identical idea to see a return of commercial slot tracks and the like. Anyway, by the summer I probably will join the ranks of the semi-retired and be employed at the hobby shop. Linda hopes I will not spend my pay before I bring it home!
BTW, on page 30 of the April POPULAR MECHANICS there appears a blurb for BARE Conductive Electrical Paint--sorta like a Magic Marker which permits one to draw circuits. I can see the uses already. Also, the latest MICRO-MARK catalog has a neat tube roller on the back cover. Kinda costly, but the illustration calls out for me to build a reasonable knock-off.

Yes, well...nothing like a little hope :)
I hope the shop works out, congrats to you.

I've been trying to get the local Hobby Shop to allow me to set up my track in front of the store to draw interest. No good.
I don't understand why someone would refuse FREE advertising.

Frank, in the Richmond, Va. area we only have three hobby shops and they are all part of a chain called Hobby Town. If you walk into these shops you will find one employee who knows about RC cars and planes and not much of anything else, the rest of the "Staff" has about as much customer service and sales ability as you will find at your local Burger King Drive Through. Each has a track which only serves the purpose of temp. storage. I asked the RC guy if they had or were planning to have races on their track and he stated it depends on if anybody shows. I asked him what day this would happen and he stated anytime somebody bought a car and wanted to try it. The shop does sell Scalextric cars, I asked about a certain car and could they order it and I was told that they got what Hornsby sent them and they did no special orders. It makes me wonder why some of these people have the guts to put down mail order and whine about people not supporting the LHS.
