WARNING : AVOID SLOTFORUM INTERNATIONAL

I don't know if it is just my computer, but I think Slotforum International has been hacked by the marketing department of Warner Bros.
For the last 24 hrs, every time I have tried to log on, the screen has been flooded with an advert for the film Godzilla.
The ad does not respond to the close button, and the only way to get rid of it is to close the page; so it's impossible to contact the administrators to tell them
To be honest, I don't find it any great loss, but if anyone reading this has anything to do with SFI, please take note.
David.

There has been a bit of discussion on the board. Ad blocker solves the issue, but it shouldn't be necessary. If you manage to get logged in it's fine. Chrome users seem to be having less trouble than most.
I eventually gave in and installed AdBlock because the advertising was getting too intrusive since the commercial takeover.
At a guess the Godzilla issue is from Google ads or similar rather than a hack.

For me, the index page has been flashing for about a month, making it very difficult to log into the new messages. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but it's really annoying and continues with no apparent effort to fix.

Are you using IE or another browser?

The flickering problem is in IE and not the forum. I don't know if an IE update will fix the issue. I don't agree that you should have to install another browser but it is likely that it will fix the problem.

Thanks Lynne. It's odd because I have been using the same version of IE all along with no issues on the forum. So I assume something changed with the forum itself. I would suggest it is one of the flickering ads that help sponsor the site that is screwing with IE. I don't imagine I am the lone hold out using IE or has the world gone to chrome when I wasn't looking.

Im still using IE, and not a problem at all.
I am on an android tablet though incase that makes a difference.
I switched to chrome about 6 months ago, and a month later I switched back to IE.
No issues with HRW, SCI , or SF.

The flickering is something to do with an update to IE.
I can't use IE because there is a conflict between IE10/11 and the text editor that the later versions of the IPB forum software than means there is no "return" function. MS have known about the issue since they rolled out IE10 but have no intention of fixing their error. I really only know about it because Auslot is running a newer version of the forum software than SFI. Oddly, the same text editor is used across a few lots of forum software as I've noticed the issue on a few others that I visit infrequently.

Again, I think this is mainly pushed at Windows platform as it still covers the majority of users.

Thanks everyone.
I'm glad it's not just me.
For interest, my browser is Safari.
I am quite glad of the excuse to wipe SFI off my bookmarks; although there are a few nice folks making posts on it,I find there is a lot of very annoying trolling, an over-consciousness of the commercial implications of everything, and some surreal discussions by obvious fantasists who are clearly never actually going to build anything. If they have a presence at the UK Festival tomorrow, I will tell them.
David.

I was just able to access Slotforum using AOL without any problems. I also have Norton's Security Suite on this machine too. :banana-dance: I don't read everything there, just 2 or 3 sub-forums on a regular basis.

It has rather taken a plunge into yawnsville over the last 12 or 18 months. I only scan through a few things now. Once I used to read each track build thread almost religiously. Now, I really can't be bothered. So many of them finish up with 10 pages of discussion on why this corner should be that shape rather than the other, or why a lane changer shouldn't be in the straight section, or why you must have a bridge in a layout...etc.
I only keep a presence there for the sake of the magazine.
