A sad day for Australian motor sport. This morning Sir Jack Brabham OBE, one of the truly legendary names in racing, passed at the age of 88.

3 times world champion. The first and only driver to win a championship in a car of his own design and engineering.

A true great.
Your legacy and dynasty will race on.

I look forward to hearing Jackie Stewart and his senior drivers talk about Black Jack.
We should get some great stories from this sad event. I remember when Oliver Reed died, there was a week of great stories about he and Peter O'Toole terrorizing hotels all over the world.

Vale Black Jack. He and Repco turned that Oldsmobile motor into a winning powerplant for the 66 and 67 championship.

He was both a gentleman and a common man. He was one of several attendees of John Weinburger's
annual birthday bash many years ago, being in the States to act as Grand Marshal at a vintage race the
following week. I sat and listened while he and Denis Hulme discussed the differences between racing
in the '50s and racing in the '60s, mostly how the politics have changed, without either man ever saying
anything bad about the organizing bodies. Jack and Phil Hill were two of my all time favorite drivers.

Yes, sad news indeed. Nothing more to say here that hasn't been said already.
Rest In Peace, Sir Jack.
