My latest purchase is a little 12 volt version of something I've always wanted.
It was Sleek and Streamlined and Blue, back in the '30s it was good for 126 mph (so that must be about 200 km/h in new speak). There were only ever 35, 1:1 versions built, today only 6 remain and only 3 actually go.
Have a guess what it is and I'll post a pic later tonight. See if anyone gets it.
1st to guess it wins absolutely nothing, 2nd to guess will get exactly half of what 1st gets and so on.

No. Not French.
But not far away geographically.
However Restored/preserved ones can be found as far away as Wisconsin and Canada.
8-)

I thought I had it with a Bugatti Royale, but there were only 6 of them ever built. There were 25 of them planned, so it still doesn't fit. I thought about a Bluebird (one of the many versions), but there's non of them in North America.
Wait! Its the Mallard, the record breaking steam locomotive. Still the fastest steam loco ever.

not many cars were capable of 125+ in the 30's...
A supercharged Auburn speedster?
EDIT: Got to be the Mallard.. I just searched it.. sleek, blue, 126mph
(he never said it was a car LOL)

I would go with the Mallard class loco. There is one at the National Railroad Museum near
Green Bay, Wis. at the head of the General Dwight D. Eisenhower train. I did some of the
restoration on it around 1970. It is not blue, but some were.

My head was more in the realms of Talbot or Delage. Don't think Sampson ever made anything that fast.
